Excellent knife. Use as a safety knife while sailing.
Excellent knife. Use as safety knife while sailing. Would easily cut through sails, ropes, etc., if needed (hope it never is !). Fits in buoyancy aid pocked (on a lanyard). Also useful for general sailing use and the shackle key slot is useful as well. Point is a bit too sharp for my purpose and I have filled the point down a bit. Still sharp enough to go though sails if I ever need to but now less likely to injure somebody if for example, I ever need to cut away a trapeze harness / clothing , etc.

Cheapy, still looking for a better DIY pocket knife
For a while I had an excellent DIY pocket knife whichw as a lot like this one but with a larger blade which I got from a friend in the US but mislaid. I've been looking for a replacement since and while this could serve the purpose in the mean time I'm not going to stop looking. This has a real bulky, plasticy feel to it and doesnt fit in a pocket as easily as the other flatter pocket knife I had, especially a back pocket or a pocket which you're carrying a lot of other things in. The plastic its constructed from is pretty cheap and I could see this breaking easily. While its durable enough and its possible to get cement or mud or dirt on it and scrape it off without the blade being ruined but I'm unsure it would survive being dropped that often or a brick or anything like that falling on it.On the other hand it could be fine for a tool belt or pouch, there is a plastic belt clip on the back which adds to the bulk but which I think is intended really for hooking it on to the lip of a tool belt pouch rather than onto your waistband or belt (it wont stay there). There's also a hole on the end for attaching a wrist loop or something like that. The blade is stainless steal and also has a serated edge, the straight edge is pretty short however and I'd see resharpening it could turn out to be difficult. With a wet stone it could be sharpened alright but its too short for most household or homewares sharpening tools. So far the point and edge have proved fine for marking wood, metal or plastics without dulling too much, it will cut hose or serve a purpose with most gardening and prunning tasks.
