The Terrible: A Storyteller's Memoir

I loved this book, it was so relatable, it was visible mentally and I just kept turning the pages ! I need more books pls Ysra!

I am still reading the book. I had to slow up because it was too good. I like to slowly read books I enjoy. So far so great. I have already recommended the book to friends. I almost don’t want the book to end but it’s a great read. Buy it and add this gem to your book collection.Edit: I finished reading the book and I was sad it ended. It was soul touching! I will be rereading it and purchasing more books from Yrsa.

“Terrible” is the story of a girl trying to navigate her way through life alone. She speaks with the honest pain of an emotionally struggling young woman looking for a happiness that always eludes her. Speaking through poetry and prose you always know exactly what is on her mind, it is never sugar coated, always feels honest. I would recommend this book to anyone over 18. Enthralling is word that comes to mind after reading this story.

I was asked to order this book from a professor at my university. I was shocked to learn that it was a collection of poems. The book is well put together and it is easy to ready. The poems are short and different. I have never seen a book like this before. It was refreshing to see such a daring and different book.

Yrsa is one of my favorite poets. I connect with her poetry and she is just a magnificent being all around. I’ve read Bone and also seen her live a her poetry reading/book signing so I knew I would enjoy this book as well. I loved The Terrible. It was her beautifully written story in poetry.

I almost passed on this book, poetry? I'm so glad I didn't. The poetry is used to enhance the story and it does so beautifully. A story of a woman's journey through a life that doesn't see or nurture her. Thank you Yrsa for letting your soul through.

I’m not one for hyperbole but this is the most beautiful/saddest memoir I have ever read.Written in a whimsical, lyrical style it is a coming of age tale which provokes all one’s emotions.The terrible is something I recognise in me and others.Ysra and Little Roo are perhaps the most talented people to come out of Chorley.Truly amazing. This book is a masterpiece.
