Castaway Cove: A Shelter Bay Novel

Delightful tale.
A delightful tale of Mac Culhane, a vet now deejay at KBAY in Shelter Bay, Oregon, and Annie Shepherd the owner of a scrapbooking store getting over a bad marriage and the still-hurtful remembrances of being a foster kid for years and years.Mac falls hard and early, Annie much slower, and fearful that her inability to have children dooms her to say no to his overtures to join his family. The complications of his grandfather's dementia and his 6-yr-old daughter's needs--after her mother abandons her and divorces Mac--make for a story replete with real life issues.Happily, all ends well, though it had me going there toward the end when great-grandpa Charlie got lost and so did sweet Emma.

I love Shelter Bay!
I just finished Castaway Cove: A Shelter Bay Novel today and was so sorry to read that last page. Shelter Bay isn't a fairy tale location, it seems real and tangible. I feel I could jump in my car and drive west and reach this wonderful small town. Although I don't discount a little magic hovering around Poppy. All Joann Ross's men are hero worthy but not perfect, as are her women. Mac and Annie, her newest couple have real reasons for not jumping into bed or marrying right away. And none of those reasons are a lack of chemistry. They have it in spades. I have no nits to pick with anything in this book, I lost myself in it.

Wonderful Read
Another great Shelter Bay story. This brings us new characters that are so fun and exciting. Annie is the owner of a small scrapbooking shop and Mac is the overnight voice of the local radio station. Both are newly divorced and not looking for anything new but this is Shelter Bay!! This is a wonderful story that takes a loving look at a variety of issues....single parenthood, bad divorces, and alzheimer's. While all those topics may make it sound like heavy reading it really isn't. It is wonderfully light and touching. Highly recommended read.

Something lacking
Have enjoyed the previous books in this series but this one just didn't grab me. Annie was a bit too negative - who decides not be even try a new relationship because of some issue that she has never discussed with the guy to see if it would be a problem. Didn't seem to be enough focus on the two central characters. The 6 year old Emma mostly spoke like a very articulate 20 year old which was really jarring. Oh well at least I will save money on books this month as it took me so long to get through this one!

This one was boring.
I enjoyed all the other books written by JoAnn Ross. This one was slow and by the time the leads got it going I had Lost interest. Maybe it's time Ms. Ross left the cove and go back to her old writing style. I am glad grandson spent time with his granddad but it seemed like it took up half the book. I am on page 75 and usually can not put a book down, not so with this one. I will finish this because i am a loyal Joann Ross fan.

Another great story out of Shelter Bay
These books make all of us readers want to move to Shelter Bay! What a wonderful set of stories set in a picturesque area of Oregon that they call the "edge of the world". It seems like if you are looking for love, Shelter Bay is the place to be for everybody, young and old! Hope there will be more stories coming from JoAnn Ross and Shelter Bay.

Getting tired
This series started off well but is now getting a bit samey. Stories are the same - someone comes to live in Shelter Bay meets someone falls in love. Lives happily ever after.
