Another great horror survival games
I'm only on chapter 3 but so far the story is interesting and the graphics are great. The only let down is the combat mechanics, which seem a little cumbersome. The game doesn't compare to the Last of Us 1 & 2 games, which I found to be close to perfection, with amazing graphics and a story which is top of it class. That being said, I'm enjoying the game so far, and for the low price it's well worth the spend. If your a horror survival game enthusiasts, give it a go, im sure you won't be disappointed.

A combination of survival horrors and films
The Evil Within 2 has taken on a more personal story than the first instalment, something you don’t see very often as the survival horror genre is usually only scientific. Here the protagonist’s family plays a big part in the story, thereby the feel is immediately more Silent Hill, particularly like Silent Hill Shattered Memories with the protagonist looking for his daughter and the residual memories throughout the game is very similar. Influences from other survival horror titles include The Last of Us (crafting on a bench, the universe of the game), Dishonoured (the broken up city floating in the sky like islands, the character Stefano looked very Dishonoured to me), Resident Evil (collecting herb to make health, the universe of the game), Dead Space (the enemy with a tentacle, the game play of the final boss Myra is similar to The Hive). I saw films in there too, The Cell (the art stuff and the entering of mind to rescue someone). The part where our protagonist is confronted by the past, demons in his mind from the first Evil Within was very well done, just like in Doctor Sleep where the now grown up Danny saw evil from The Shining re-emerging to haunt him. Of course I know The Evil Within 2 came out first before Doctor Sleep. The famous carpet of Overlook Hotel from The Shining is now here as wallpaper in The City Hall.I have no problem with all the influences and ideas from other games being used for The Evil Within 2, however I felt the first one was much scarier and more difficult. The relentless traps and some of the designs that went into the first game was unparalleled and unfortunately not present in this second instalment, some of the bosses here are mere humans disfigured (Stefano, O’Neal, Theodore). There were a few moments of brilliance but an absence of something epic was the general feeling. The mainly dark ambient synthesizer soundtrack of the first game is not so intense here, a more organic sound began to emerge, strings, most notable in the final chapters as he heads back to his office and then up the hill to his home, a tinge of sadness there. Finally, a cover version of Duran Duran’s Ordinary World to finish during the credits, to suggest our protagonist will try to get on with life without his wife.I still enjoyed the game very much but just generally didn’t feel like I was in the Evil Within universe of the first one. I look forward to a third instalment if they are making one.

Pleasantly Surprised.
Wasn't sure exactly what to expect from this game, but ended up being very good. Very challenging but also very satisfying gameplay, the open world aspects were very well done.
