The Anti-Alzheimer's Prescription: The Science-Proven Plan to Start at Any Age

Bad title -- INDISPENSIBLE!
Although this book does offer a prescription of for preventing Alzheimer's, the title is misleading -- the book is about so much more than Alzheimer's! Alzheimer's is only a subset of the vast information regarding bodily functions and the effects of various nutrients and drugs in language easily understood by nonprofessionals. The book is a MUST READ for anybody concerned about their health and the effects caused by diet, exercise and mental state. In easy to understand language this book gives a detailed explanation of the interactions of various bodily hormones, the organs that produce them and how they are affected by nutrients and stress.I was also impressed by Dr. Fortanasce's motivation in writing this book. I have to admit when I first saw the book after a friend recommended it, I thought, "Jesus! Another book by a greedy doctor not satisfied with the six figure salary with which he is already blessed." But I was wrong. He is a neurologist that was going merrily through his doctor's life when his own father was stricken with Alzheimer's. Father and son were close. and Dr. Fortanasce had to go through the entire heart wrenching experience from his father's initial slight memory loss, to the point where he could not even remember his own son, to his total breakdown complete with diapers. Dr. Fortanasce went on a mission to find out whether he was at risk and how this terrible disease could be prevented or at lest slowed down. He wrote this book to share with the world what he found. At the $10 Amazon price, it is clear that the book is not making him rich. However, it IS a wealth of information that EVERYBODY should have. Please read this book and share it with all for whom you care.

FORGET ABOUT ALZHEIMER'S
Dr Fortanasce's statements that his method to prevent Alzheimer's disease has been proven is, I'm afraid, controversial. However, if you can and do follow his plan very carefully, your physical and mental health will become as healthy as possible. Now I don't mean it cures cancer or mental illness. I just mean that this is as much as you can do (on your own) to secure your best health possible. That is my opinion.I'm not going to fault Dr Fortanasce for his enthusiastic style of writing (or his exaggerations). These are what sell and hold the attention of readers. And readers should have high expectations for working and staying with this plan. This wonderful book will benefit many many people.I'm approaching 73 and am in good health. For the last ten years I have been slowly improving my own lifestyle. Much of my improvements come from other writers who have made some of the same suggestions as Dr. Fortamasce does in this book. I am now younger and mentally sharper than I was ten years ago. I will keep doing what I've been doing and add the improvements suggested by this good doctor.5-STARS!Thank you Dr. Fortanasce

Motivated me to make changes to my lifestyle
In this book Dr. Fortanasce explains his DEAR Anti-Alzheimer's Prescription Plan. He discusses diet, exercise, brain neurobics and rest. He explains how all of these things effect the brain in scientific terms that are easily understood. He also explains the insulin - glucagon balance and it's effect on your brain. The information in this book motivated me to make the changes in my lifestyle that Dr. Fortanasce recommended. I do the "correct" physical exercises and brain exercises (I play Big Brain Academy almost every day) that benefit my brain. I also follow his 1/3 fat 1/3 carbs 1/3 protein diet plan. Alzheimer's is very scary and Dr. Fortanasce offers several preventative measures that are easy to put into practice. I have recommended this book to several of my friends and highly recommend it to anyone who wants to understand the causes of Alzheimer's and what steps they can start taking TODAY to keep their brains healthy and sharp.

Very helpful, balanced
Anti-Alzheimer prescription deals with health for the mind and candidly lays out the cost of not dealing with the subject. Shows how those who are genetically predisposed to Alzheimer's disease can at least postpone its onset and possible avoid it altogether. We've found the emphasis on diet, rest, exercise & social life a necessity for healthy anyway, and find the instructions in the book clear and very helpful by way of adjusting what we're doing for greater impact. My wife and I are attending a lecture series by Dr. Fortanesce that reinforces the contents of the book and have had a handful of friends join us since the start. Alzheimer's is rare outside the West, a product of our lifestyle. Once a person has it, nothing can be done about it even after $24 billion in research. Prevention is the key

EXCELLENT
This book appears to be quite excellent - altho I am not an expert on the matter of Alzheimers, I have begun reading a number of different books about the brain and its physical health, and his statements appear to cross-check for accuracy. This book appears to be quite thorough and detailed, and best of all explains the doctor's reasoning. Like so many aspects of a persons health, I believe it is easier to prevent problems rather than to fix them later - and that is where this book is so helpful. I'll be keeping this book as an important reference guide to keep on hand. It's one of those few "keeper" books, important enough to keep on hand.

Avoiding Alzheimer's
The Anti-Alzheimer's Prescription: The Science-Proven Prevention Plan to Start at Any Age The value I have gotten before I have completely read the book is twofold:- how to recagnize Alzheimer's in others, an essential if any of your family come down with it.- what one must do to try to avoid the ailment yourself. The author provides extensive detail for diet and exercises that have been established as reducing risk of developing the brain impairment. The author goes as far as providing specific meal menus for three meals and snacks for thirty days, -- a typical month. The book provides great advice and lots of incentive for doing what it suggests.

Low key
I found this book boring and low key and rather out of date. David Perlmutter covers this topic in a far more dynamic and interactive way. Perlmutter's coverage of the subject is far more interesting and practical. Dr Perlmutter makes the subject stimulating and relevant. I was told this book would arrive on 31st December - it actually arrived 10 days late. Not a big issue (given the current circumstances), but total delivery time was still well over 2 months.

Excellent book, fast reading once you learn some of the medical terms. It is well worthwhile to take time and understand them. You can start anywhere and find it interesting. You come away with incentives to improve your level of exercising and eating lifestyle, because the ultimate rewards are worth it. I highly recommend it.
