Streams of Silver: Legend of Drizzt: Icewind Dale Trilogy, Book 2

If you're a DnD fan or a fan of the Crystal Shard, you should definitely read this book. The author struggled to find his way some in the Crystal Shard, but in Streams of Silver he definitely starts to hit his stride. Such a fun read and really sets the pace for the rest of the series.

The Drittz stories are a great read for D&D fans to people who want a good adventure story with characters you care about. This story in the series is my favorite so far.. The books themselves are made very well and can handle wear and tear from active reading.

R.A. Salvatore is the master of his craft when it comes to spinning a web of fantasy and provides a compelling series to come back and read over and over again. Drizzt Do'Urden is a legend in the Science Fiction world and his legend only continues to grow with each new adventure presented by this iconic author.

Book 1 of the Legend of Drizzt series, Homeland, was a hard read at first with the long complicate names but once I got past that I really liked it and decided to keep reading. I've now read 25+ books from RA Salvatore and would recommend all Legend of Drizzt, Hunters Blade, Transitions, and Neverwinter books as great fantasy reads. Salvatore has such great character development and interesting new adventures that make you want to keep reading. There is a fair amount of fighting, if you're not into that I'd still recommend these books, just read through those parts fast.

I have read these before but it is so different listening to them. I needed something for some long drives and this is again a fun series that I dont get too bored with. Another great addition to this series.

Another exceptional novel that hooks your attention from the beginning right till the end.

Big fan of this collection of books if ur a Lord of the rings fan or a fantasy world fan of any genre I suggest picking up the first book and begin in your journey through the world of dungeons and dragons

La suite de la saga de Drizzt, cette fois-ci axée autour de la quête de Bruenor, l'héritier du clan Battlehammer.Globalement, c'est bien écrit, il n'y a pas d'incohérence dans l'histoire, l'action s'enchaîne bien sans temps mort ou inutile. On y rencontre un puissant adversaire, némésis de Drizzt, que l'on va retrouver dans le volume suivant. Les personnages sont toujours intéressants et on en apprend un peu plus sur eux au cours de leur périple qui nous fait voir "du pays".Le bémol à apporter est que les héros sont un peu trop sur-puissants par moments, s'échappant sans blessures de situations impossibles, si bien qu'à la fin on n'a pas trop peur lors des scènes d'action car on sait que tout le monde va s'en sortir à peu près. A noter aussi par moments quelques "raccourcis" du scénario qui font que l'auteur accélère des passages normalement difficiles pour les personnages, ou bien il élude tout simplement certains contingents ennuyeux du type: comment et quand les personnages mangent ou dorment-ils? Comment peuvent-ils se battre si bien en ayant ni mangé ni dormi? Les détails de ce genre sont totalement ignorés et "disneylandisent" un peu l'histoire, ce qui est dommage. On souhaiterait un peu plus de réalisme, de challenge, voire de cruauté de la part de l'auteur, de façon à donner du mordant à l'intrigue et de l'intensité aux combats. Cet opus se détache de la trilogie originelle de par sa banalité, on a perdu l'atmosphère géniale de Menzoberranzan et le côté torturé de la quête de Drizzt; on se retrouve avec une simple quête avec des ennemis et des alliés.Néanmoins, si on n'est pas trop exigeant, c'est une histoire sympa à suivre et on passe un bon moment.

Die Icewind Dale Trilogy von Salvatore war vor vielen Jahren das erste, was ich von dieser Art Fantasy gelesen hatte, und es hatte mich begeistert.Ich habe mir jetzt das Vergnügen nochmals gegönnt, und kann die Trilogie jedem ans Herz legen, der für die Zeit des Lesens jeden Realitätsinn abstellen und sich ganz dem Genuss einer rasant erzählten Geschichte hingeben kann.Ich finde "Streams of Silver" wie auch "The Halfling's Gem" von der Story her interessanter als "The Crystal Shard", aber ich empfehle sie wirklich als Einheit zu lesen.Den Realitätssinn muss man abtellen, weil die Helden schon extrem überzeichnet sind, Zufälle / Fügungen reihen sich günstig, das Ganze ist mehr eine vergnügliche Achterbahnfahrt (ich meine, wenn ein Drow, ein Zwerg, ein Barbar und ein Halbling unterwegs sind: Wer kocht? Wer macht Abwasch? Falls es hier Streitigkeiten gab, bleibt der Leser von derart niedrigen Widrigkeiten verschont).Aber wie gesagt: die Geschichte ist rasant, es kommt keine Langeweile auf, man gönnt den Helden, dass sich alles fügt, und zumindest ich lese auch keine Fantasy, um mit langweiligen Problemen konfrontiert zu werden.Der Inhalt des Buches kurz zusammengefasst: Ein Dunkelelf, ein Barbar, ein Zwerg und ein Halbling suchen die verlorene Mine der Vorfahren des Zwerges.Widrige Personen verfolgen sie. Und daraus entsteht gute Unterhaltung und viel Spass.Ein kleiner Wermutstropfen: Drizzt hat etwas Probleme damit, das er unbedingt "gut" sein will - und dabei etwas pathetisch ist. Es geht aber noch. In der "Homeland"-Trilogie, die zeitlich nach Icewind Dale erschien, erzählerisch aber davor spielt (als er noch bei den Drows lebte), fand ich es so extrem, dass ich nach der Trilogie gar nichts mehr von Drizzt gelesen habe.
