Did The Catholic Church Give Us The Bible?

The theories Daniels presents are interesting, but ultimately unconvincing. This is largely because the book lacks primary sources (or any sources) for its boldest claims. Many of the secondary sources come from other Chick Publications books. That alone does not disprove any of his claims, but it does make it difficult to convince an objective Protestant, a Catholic, or anyone Daniels/Chick would consider a non-believer. This book is best going to strengthen the faith of those who already agree with its premise, namely, that the Catholic church is evil, the Whore of Babylon, and is working hard to destroy God's "true word," the King James Bible.Various problems:*Daniels praises Erasmus for preserving and translating the "textus receptus" which he claims is the true word of God. But Erasmus didn't have the whole New Testament, and had to back translate using Jerome's Vulgate (which Daniels said is a perverted Bible)*Daniels repeatedly says Catholics venerate Origen as a saint and church father. This is not true. He was condemned for heretical beliefs including, but not limited to, the pre-existence of souls, something he took from Plato but not from the Bible. For this reason, among others, Origen is respected but is not raised to the status of saint or father.*Neither is Alphonsus Liguori a church father. He is seen as a "Doctor of the Church," which is something entirely different. Doctors are men and women who are great theologians throughout history. Fathers are men who lived in the first few centuries that helped form the church's teachings. Some fathers are doctors; some are not. Some doctors are fathers; some are not.*From what I could tell, the Vaduois did not exist until the 12th or 13th century. Some Protestant theologians tried to tie them to earlier groups, but this is definitely a minority position not accepted by objective historians without an agenda.Benefits of the book:*Rightly points out the danger of the "big Bible" industry, whose goal is to make money.*Rightly cautions us to show a profound reverence for the word of God, which means not just accepting any Bible version that comes along.*Rightly points out the problems of the history of the Catholic Church, which lessens its credibility. But some Catholics may point to Matthew 23:2-3 (KJV), "[Jesus] Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat: All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not." Likewise, if the Catholic church's bishops have the authority of the apostles, it could apply to them as well and be interpreted as, "The bishops and Popes sit in the apostles' seat: All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not."

If you are an American Christian, you go through your whole life without learning about how 'we got our bible', yet there are so many different denominations and belief systems that profess 'the bible' as thier source of spiritual information. However, a wise man once told me: "always look for the second right answer, because it is usually the only right answer".This book, "Did Catholics ... Bible?", demonstrates in a clear, intelligent, and entertaining fashion that, just like there are always 2 sides to every coin, so there are in fact 2 different lines of Bible history. It plainly shows the reader that the devil has one line of perverted history, and that God has His Own preserved line of Scriptural history. This book is a must-have for the serious and mature Christian who is truly interested in learning 'the full scope of the arguement'.Don't let the illustrations fool you - the information is backed up with a complete presentation and solid, checkable references (I have checked them myself) - to prove, beyond a reasonable doubt, whether or not the Catholics gave us our Bible (if the reader is willing to look at it with an honest attitude). I personally read about 1 book a week, and I have read other books on this subject, but when I checked this book's information with others of its kind (and their information), the other books failed the research phase, whereas this book did not.I highly recommend this book to anyone who takes thier faith in Christ and what the Bible really says seriously!

El libro usa un lenguaje sencillo y directo. Después de leer este libro, no confiarás en cualquier Biblia como tu alimento espiritual.

It was instructive and easy to understand and it was just the facts I didn't get the feeling that the writer was trying to but down Catholism but wanted us to know about the real bible and to inform us we did have a choice. My choice after many hours studying the KJV and other bibles I have come away with the truth and that I have been searching for many years. The King James Bible is now my choice and the strange thing about it I understand it more than ever. There is evil every where and why not the church. We all think that we are so smart but when I we going to learn that Satan is smarter than us. Because we have been fed so many distortions of the Bible we have become dumber and dumber. With men like David Daniels we may wake up before it is too late. There is a war out there and we don't know how to use out weapons The Bible.....thank you David Daniels and others like you who are trying to wake us up.

The cover is different than the original, but I think the story is the same, very good book, I own some original "two Babylon" books from the late 1800s and it goes along with this book. I've studied a lot of older books about Babylon religion and how the Bible came to be, this is a good book filled with accurate information that'll make you think twice about bringing a NIV or asv or any other bible besides the king James to church. I've also studied bible versions for 6 years now and the King James is the true authorized Version, it'll be a mistake to read anything else, which they will pervert your mind with unscriptural material.

Excellent book - I learned a lot. After reading this book, the bible I reference is the authorized 1611 King James Version. From a bible-knowledgeable friend of mine, a good way to test for a good bible reference is to check 1 John Chap 5, verse 7. If it says that the Father, the Word, and the Spirit are one, then it is a good version to read and reference. Other versions that don't have this have been "watered down" with original verses altered.

I found this book very easy to show how the bible and the churches have been corrupted and led many astray.

Funny, witty, and informative. This book shows clear as day that the Roman Catholics did nothing in helping God preserve his holy words. The King James Bible is the only English bible I can trust with my life and I don't care what others think. May God bless David Daniels and his colleagues as they continue their work for the LORD to help people open their eyes to the biggest con job in history.
