Before setting my eyes on this I purchased a Philips 60W charger, because I wanted something that I could use with my MacBook Pro 15 while in my car, in addition to charging phones. The Phillips is supposedly able to deliver 3A@20V via PD, but unfortunately when connected my laptop never detected the power source, regardless of which USB-C cables I tried including the OEM cable that came with the laptop. Then I connected a Surface Laptop 3 which works with 30W (2A@15V) PD chargers, it would keep flapping between its battery and the Philips charger as the power source. There is a Samsung OEM charger with a 45W USB-C PD port and a 15W USB-A port, but it is not carried by any large retailer except AT&T Wireless and the few reviews I was able to find weren't exactly glowing. Then I came across this Anker charger. I was not aware that 1.5A@20V was a valid PD profile, but apparently it works! When connected, it is able to charge my MacBook Pro - it is slow especially while the laptop is in use but works well enough for me, I actually have a 120V outlet in the vehicle, the Apple OEM charger is heavy and falls out of the outlet easily so it is not practical when the vehicle is in motion. The Anker charger works well with my Microsoft Surface Laptop 3 as well. My Note 10+ phone is capable of 45W charging, I am unable to get more than 15W even when plugged into the 30W PD port, but it is not really a surprise as there must be something proprietary in how Samsung devices talk to each other, because I have not seen any non-Samsung power source deliver more. Overall this is a great value and highly recommended.

This is an absolutely awesome car charger. After trying without success to get a decent charge from my Honda Accord's built-in USB port, I decided to take a different tack and buy this one, which draws its power from the cigarette lighter. The difference is astounding! I have a Google Pixel 2 and loe listening to audiobooks on it, but that draws a lot of power from the phone. Add in using Google maps and I was constantly losing all phone power in the middle of a trip or having to sweat it out or pull over to re-charge. But this thing works GREAT. I now arrive at my destination with 100% power and can listen to all of the audiobooks I want. It works even faster than my wall plug charger, works great even when you're draining it with multiple apps and it has not damaged my phone in any way whatsoever after four months of use. I add this because I think the reviewer who claimed it hurt his Pixel 2 is way off base -- it's perfectly safe with mine . It may sound like a minor thing to love a car charger so much, but I drive a lot and it's a joy to be able to listen to audiobooks without worrying I'll drain my phone of power and then not be able to navigate with the phone's GPS. And arriving at your destination with 100% is also a joy when you end up in the middle of nowhere and want to hike with enough power to call for help, if need be, or if (like a few weekends ago) you're camping at a music festival and need a way to quickly recharge without waiting in a long line to use the one wall outlet.. I've also powered up my phone at the same time my daughter is using the USB port for her iPhone and she charges just fine while I use the Anker. I paired this with a "USB Type C Cable,3 Pack Extra Long Google Pixel 3 Charger Cable,10Ft 6Ft 3Ft Samsung S9 Cable, Durable Braided" cord, by the way, at another reviewer's suggestion and am extremely happy with the combo. From here on out, it's Anker chargers for me...

The charger seems to be well made. I have used it only twice, since I do not frequently have to charge my cellular phone in the car. However, I did notice what I consider to be of particular interest to cellular phone users. If you have ever used a GPS on your cellular phone (like Waze or Maps) you will be familiar with the fact that these programs will drain your battery much faster than other type uses. What's more, if you have to make a long trip the likelihood that the battery will last beyond 3 or 4 hours are slim or none. If you then plug the phone into a charger, while the GPS is on, the program will not allow the charger to re-charge the phone and the batter will continue to drain. And if you have no battery the GPS program will not work even if running on the charger. Therefore, if you are on a long trip you may loose your GPS access at the time when you most need it (nearing the end of the trip). I tested this charger by plugging in my cellular phone with my GPS on, for the better part of an hour, and had no battery drain. In other words the charger appears to provide sufficient charge to keep the program on and actually recharge the phone while using the program. One caveat, I do use a heavy duty fast charging cable between the charger and the phone, and that may account for my experience (I believe it is called 'lightning cable').
