Beautiful
I had never played a turn-based game before for more than 10 minutes. I got this game on a whim, after watching a review from a streamer with similar taste in games as me. I got the physical version thinking, if I don't like it, I can just resell it. Man, I am so happy that gave it a shot!I've been playing games since the early 80's and I have enjoyed many of them and some I have even loved. This one, however, was different. It hits you in the feels... hard. People throw the term "masterpiece" on, pretty much, anything these days. This game is one that, I think, truly deserves it. Everything about it is fantastic. The story, gameplay, graphics and the music... oh, man! The music!I will be honest about thing. If this had been the exact same game, but with cutesy anime characters, I would have dropped it after a few hours. The main thing that made me really get into it was that it was about more grounded and mature characters in a fantastic world. I'm an old fart, so, the whole anime teenage hero who saves the world while having campy conversations, doesn't really do it for me. Even when I was a kid, that stuff never clicked for me... not even Final Fantasy 7. People say that Final Fantasy should go back to turn-base and maybe even add the real-time elements that E33 has. Even if they did, I would probably still not get it. I just have never been able to relate to it for some reason.

An absolute masterpiece! Game of the Generation!
From beginning to end, this game is a masterpiece! A complete work of art. Not only is this game going to be game of the year, but it is literally game of the generation. Every element in this game is top notch. Some of the best art direction I've ever seen, as well as the soundtrack goes toe to toe with the best soundtracks ever ( I'll even put this next to the NIER series, it's that good) if you can manage to get yourself a copy, do it! For me, this is literally peak turm-based combat. Every battle, including the easy battles, I was locked-in and didn't let my guard down. I can already see so many other games being influenced by this gem. Do me a favor, Finish whatever game you have and play this immediately. Move this game up to the priority in your backlog ASAP! This deserves all the hype and this will be a game will be remembered in video game history for a long time. Well done Sandfall, well done!

Clair Obscur: A fitting title for one of the greatest games of all time!
Clair Obscure is an art term for stylized use of the contrast of light and dark to create an interplay greater than the sum of the parts. This game is absolutely that is so many ways. This game has one of the best emotional stories of any game I've played. It has a turn based combat system which is actively engaging on your turn and enemies turns, while retaining the turn based room to breathe if desired. The art is absolutely amazing, even if not technically the super top end, but the style and thematic art design conquers all.The soundtrack is possibly amongst the best, up there with great games like Final Fantasy 7!Warning: The game handles dark subjects and does not shy away from showing how people react to them in different ways.

How did they pull this off?
This game is phenomenal. The art direction, combat system, music score, voice acting and writing are top-notch. If I had to nitpick, I would say the facial animation are not up to 2025 standards, which is a little distracting sometimes. But that's it. I would put it up there with The Wild Hunt in legendary status.

BUY IT
This is an absolutely amazing game. The graphics are gorgeous, the music is hauntingly beautiful, the story is sad and intriguing, and the gameplay is addicting. If you are on the fence about this game, quit hesitating. You will not regret it. I've seen a few places that called it a "souls-like," it is not. There is parrying and dodging during battles, but it is not too hard to get the hang of it. If you die, the most that will happen is you spend a few seconds getting back to the monster that defeated you. You don't lose anything, and monsters only respawn if you rest. This is the first game in a long time that I have to drag myself away from my console. I make plans on when I can get back to playing. I'm happy it's going to rain for three days because I won't feel guilty about not getting outside yardwork done, and I can beat some more monsters instead. The makers of Clair Obscur knocked it out of the park. I hope to see many more games from them.

One of the best games I've ever played
I didn't know too much about expedition 33 prior to buying it. It came highly recommended from a friend of mine so I decided to give it a go. Originally this was suppose to be a place holder game until Doom launched and I honestly thought it was over hyped, until I played it.From the get go, I was drawn into the world. From the characters and story to the music I found it hard to out down. It over shadowed every other game on the list hands down. Honestly I forgot I even had other games waiting for their chance.Couldn't recommended the game enough, if you have the chance to play it, you won't regret it.

If you love old school turn based rpg, this game is for you.
It’s been a long time since I enjoyed an rpg so much. Mechanics, art, music, story are the best I’ve experienced in years. It has everything that ffantasy has been losing with the pass of years. I even took the time to fight optional bosses. Loved it.

Game of the Year
Awesome story, beautiful graphics, engaging combat system, fantastic characters, amazing exploration, and challenging battle system. Only minor complaint is excessive menuing (way too many Pictos and swapping them around is a major chore). Game of the year and it isn't even close.
