Beautiful book
This is a beautiful book full of fantastic artwork I was a bit disappointed there weren't more images or tips on how to achieve the heads and faces. It seemed to assume a more advanced level of competence so maybe not ideal for beginners.

A must for the bookshelf of any serious or aspiring sugarcrafter!
I'm a huge fan of Carlos' work and distinctive modelling style, and was thrilled to receive this beautiful book for my birthday last year. Not only does the book look gorgeous; it is very instructive and the step-by-step guide to his projects are very detailed with plenty of pictures to illustrate the steps. The projects are varied and there are plenty of techniques suggested that can be used to apply to your own work and develop your own style too. The introductory chapter on basic principles is also very helpful. In my view this is the best and most inspirational sugarcraft figure modelling book currently on the market; I've put my order in for his second book (out now) and can't wait to get my hands on this latest work!I'm quite an experienced sugarcrafter and found the projects and instructions to be pitched just right for me; I think the book has sufficient clear instructions to still be suitable for someone with less experience, although you will probably need to read all of the background techniques and tips rather than dive straight into a project. It certainly takes you far beyond beginner level and onto more advanced essential modelling, such as achieving different facial expressions, alternative styles for different types of cake project, etc. A must for the bookshelf of any serious sugarcrafter.

Sugarcraft dreams are made of this
Possibly the most clear, informative and best illustrated book on sugarcraft modelling I have seen yet. Perfect balance of instructions, tips and high-quality photographs including templates. I am a self-taught fan of sugarcraft modelling with several years of experience but this book has much to offer both me or the beginner. Carlos Lischetti's distinctive style creates elegant, fun and dramatic looking models for cake toppers which will astound your recipients with the depth of the imaginative beauty and innovation, and yet astound you how simple some of them really are. Includes some basics such as an essential equipment guide, tutor tips in baking and covering a cake with board for the optimum foundation for his modelling projects for celebration cakes and how to use supports and dummy cakes. Leaves plenty of room for the advanced sugarcrafter to pick up perfecting tips and new ideas too. I defy anyone not to get goosebumps from the wonder of his creations: "Animation in sugar" moves the average sugar model into a totally new dimension. 14 varied projects with standing, sitting, fine or stocky models gives you plenty of things to copy or to earn from in your own creations. I haven't been able to put it down this morning since the post man arrived and can't wait to follow his first model with my own twist!

each stage is adequately described with step by step pictures and a brilliant story to go with each design
OH MY GOSH this book is so inspiring!! And although it looks so difficult, each stage is adequately described with step by step pictures and a brilliant story to go with each design. Some of the things he asks you to use are american though, so you have to look online - for example certain marshmallows used aren't really available in the UK in any shop so you have to shop very specifically or adapt the design to what you have. I prefer that anyway as it isn't completely ripping off Lischetti!I also really loved how he has extra things in the book like how to package the models for easier transportation. I didn't like how all the colours he describes are Squires Kitchen only. So you have to look for the equivalent colours if using sugar flair instead. Not too much of a problem though.

Just Beautiful!
I was totally drawn to the picture on the cover of this book as the woodland fairy is just so special. The book itself is an absolute delight with some stunning modelling by Carlos - whether I can ever hope to turn out anything that looks that breathtaking is another matter........However, that said, the book is well laid out with equipment guides, good explanations, recipes and lots of 'Tutor's Tips' to assist you. Each modelling project pictured is all done step by step with pictures and well written instructions.Carlos is a very talented chap, and so is his brother who comes up with the ideas and drawings for many of the projects. He also is the photographer for the book. Their mum must be very proud of having such artistic sons.I would recommend this book to all as being inspirational. The attention to detail is amazing.
