Loved the design pages
Bought this for my sister’s 12th birthday party. She loves origami and while I was just searching for instruction booklets, I came across this whole set, which included a booklet, plain paper, and designed paper, and it was perfect! The paper comes in the square shape it needs to be so no cutting necessary, and the design pages are so fun, because they make your creation look even more realistic. It was so fun to see the girls try out and master this skill, when many had no prior experience. The booklet was great and offered many choices to choose from, but I’m sure you could use the papers with other designs that aren’t even listed in there. Very happy with the purchase. In a world where kids seem to only care about electronics these days- this was a hit!

Hours of Fun
We picked this up for the grandkids to work with at a family get together. It kept them from getting too bored and even the adults enjoyed crafting some.

Smaller than I thought but Fun
I wasn't anticipating how small these would be, but I also didn't read the specifications so that's on me. My class has enjoyed following the directions for indoor recess to create the different projects.

Instruction Book Needs More Instructions
The Instruction book tries to put instructions on one page per character, causing missing information in order to try to figure out missing steps. This is not fun. This is why Oragami is a fading art. We just ended up coloring on paper & making paper airplanes lot more fun. I spent my money on it but I would not recommend buying it, your better off getting some coloring books, doll or an action figure for the kids to play with this is to challenging and not enough instructions.

interesting learning tool to add cartoon paper
My learning style is such that I often will need to buy three books on a single subject, so that when I inevitably misunderstand or hit a road block, I have another author who might explain things in a different way that might make more sense to me and help me keep moving forward. I am applying this approach to learning origami folding techniques. I hemmed and hawed about selecting this kit through the amazon vine program because it seemed especially designed for children with the cartoon paper, but then I thought that there is potentially something different to learn here, so I should give it a go. This book made a couple of techniques clearer to me, but not with the words and symbols, but rather the pictures. I am a visual thinker, so this is no surprise, but I wonder if the language is clear enough for beginners or if it is assumed that you have some background in origami folding terminology. I didn't always find the written instructions very clear. As for the cartoon paper, I found that surprisingly helpful and wish I had just started with those projects instead of moving through some of the basic folding techniques. The cartoon paper helps you clearly identify front and back of the paper. Also, the cartoon helps serve as a guide for where the folds should be occurring. If you fold and the cartoon picture isn't becoming clearer, it is easy to self correct. So in this way, the cartoon paper feels like a nice set of training wheels and would be VERY beginner appropriate. (Admittedly though, something is also lost too, it doesn't scratch that visualization itch in my brain as well - how do I take this 2-D representation and make it happen in 3-D in front of me, the cartoon almost encourages you to continue to think in two dimensions). But afterwards, each project could be tried with the blank paper to see if you can visualize the project coming together just based on the folds. So this is not the most exciting kit for an adult, but it seems to be helping me with additional practice and helping me understand the folds a little better. As the cartoon projects progress and you get used to seeing the snail in the snail project or the penguin in the penguin project, it's also becoming easier to imagine introducing decorative papers. So I'll take the training wheels for now. This kit is a good learning tool, but if it's your very first exposure to origami, it may be helpful to have a beginner's reference nearby, since some of the verbal instructions seem not so obvious to me.
