Excellent small but informative book. Bought for 4 year old obsessed with shells, this will be a very good reference book for him.

Great identifier book for children

I bought this, as one of a number of titles, for a bright 10 year old who loves to scour beaches and rock pools and identify the things she finds. It was exactly right: not too complex, attractive, informative, good pictures to help with identification and small enough to carry around easily. I found it quite useful myself and I'm a LOT more than 10!

This is a handy little guide to take down to the beach. We took it on holiday and my children had a great time looking up the names of shells. The only downside was that a lot of the shells are only found in tropical places so my little one was disappointed that we wouldn't be able to find any of them!
