Entertaining bath toy
I was looking for a bath toy that did not have a hole in it. I have read too many articles about mold inside of bath toys and other toys that squeeze. That is the main reason I got this, but upon playing with it I like it for other reasons as well. The little bugs float on top of the water and are easy for my daughter to grab. She is still too young to use the net, but she enjoys watching me collect the bugs and count them. This is the kind of toy that will grow with her as she will eventually be able to try to catch the bugs her self. This is very I was looking for a bath toy that did not have a hole in it. I like that I am not afraid of mold growing on these toys.

The hole at the base of the handle? It's there on purpose. Not a mold hazard.
This toy is a winner. Honestly, it's probably because it's a toy in the bath that makes it a winner, because BATH TIME! Either way, my toddler loves it and asks to play with it outside the bath when he spots it on the counter. One important lesson learned: I read the reviews about the hole at the bottom of the net and the potential for mold. I diligently filled it with glue to close the hole before giving it to my son, thinking I wanted to avoid any potential for mold and ensure the longevity of the toy. Big mistake. First use, and the net handle has water trapped in it because that hole is designed to let the water out - to prevent mold of course! The net handle is two pieces of plastic fused together with the netting between the two pieces. You can't really see the openings, but it's where the netting meets the handle that small amounts of water get in - and that excellent hole in the base? Provided that water with an escape route for that handle to dry out. I have to go back and try to remove the glue now. Best of intentions... In short, your Little will thoroughly enjoy this toy. Don't give a second thought to other reviews that talk about the potential for mold. It's a bath toy after all - there's always that potential. Know that the toy is designed to mitigate that risk. Just make sure you pour any accumulated water out at the end. It will be one of your child's favorites.

Great, Can be used in many ways
Our ten month old loves her rubber ducks, but I needed to make them "go away" due to the hole in the bottom letting water in and creating the perfect mold environment. This is a great replacement. No holes to let water in. We already have tumblers she plays with in the tub, but this net is unique and she will enjoy it. The bugs float great, big enough that they don't fit all the way in her mouth. She loves chewing on the bugs and rubbing them against her gums. she loves putting all the bugs in a tumbler and dumping them out again in the tub. She also likes handing the bugs back and forth to Mom and Dad (practicing Sharing). She hasn't figured out the net yet, but she did lick the handle a few times. Dad thinks the net is super cool and spent alot of time demonstrating it to the little one. :)

Warning: One of the top reviews is inaccurate!!!
I specifically purchased this because I was looking for bath toys without holes. One of the top reviews, the one with the most helpful amount of votes, gives praise for the lack of holes and inability for mold to creep in and grow. I saw this review and the answered questions that specifically state that the little bugs are made of solid plastic (no holes) and that was enough for me to add to my cart. Shame on me for not reading ALL of the reviews and paying more attention to the commentary about the net! The bugs themselves are indeed hole free. They are plastic and lightweight and fun to float around the tub. Unfortunately, the net has a big hole at the end of the handle. I am guessing it is there to serve as somewhat of an anchor, making sure the net can easily be submerged into the water to scoop up the bugs. I get it. But the problem remains that water can get trapped. Oy, the very issue I was trying to avoid! My daughter enjoys this toy. At 18 months, I find that it is a great way to practice her fine motor skills. She enjoys the challenge of trying to catch the bugs. I also find that she likes to put her face up against the netting and play peek-a-boo. When done with the bath, I try my best to shake the net to get out as much water as possible. I then store it in a mesh bag with the handle side down, hoping that any additional water with drain out into the tub. As other reviewers have noted, the net could be used outside of the bath tub for any of those really concerned about the mold issue. So far, I am hopeful that my shaking/storage strategy is enough.

Updating an old 4 star review, to 5!
My son really enjoys the water bugs. He has started "fishing" by picking the bugs up and just placing them in the net. He's so proud of himself when he does so. It's adorable to watch. We've had these for about 5 months (he's 14 months now) and they have been played with everyday -- in and out of the tub. The bugs fit perfectly in his hands. I don't have to worry about mold, since water cannot enter the toy cavity. Tho this may cost more than your classic rubber/squeaky bath toys . . . it is worth it. Once you buy this you will have it forever. The rubber toys must be thrown out after too much use. ------------Original 4 star review, Nov 2011------------------- This is a quality bath toy at a reasonable price. I love that there is no way for water to get inside (I bought this so I could throw away the rubber ducky). The bugs are cute, and the net floats well. I'm sure my son will love it once he catches on to "fishing." As for now, he actually seems more interested in playing with the bugs outside of the tub. For now, his stacking cups are his preferred bath toy (really, the duck was . . . but he's gone). I would definitely recommend this toy. If my boy was more interested in it, I'd give it a five.

Love these
I got these for my year old son. He loves them and always plays with them. Everything is great quality materials. I like the fact that they don't get moldy, like other bath toys get. They are super cute and lightweight. They float nicely and my son is able to grab all of them in his small hands. My son doesn't play with the net that much yet, but I am sure he will when he is older. I love the idea of the net, because it can scoop other bath toys; so it is also functional. I recommend these for children of all ages.

Something fun and different for the bath!
My 1 year old LOVES catching the little bugs by hand, they are perfect for his little hands. My 4 year old loves catching all the other tub toys with the net! Really clever, colorful and cute, well constructed, and has already given them tons of fun during bath time. Plus, I don't have to worry about mold building up inside of the toys, and I've run the net through the dishwasher for a sanitizing rinse to prevent mildew and smells. No issues so far. Great idea, we love Boon toys and this one did not disappoint!

Aesthetically pleasing, great for tiny hands, made w/ sturdy material - would definitely buy again!
I just absolutely adore this toy. I might even like it more than my son (but that’s probably just because he’s still working on his hand/eye coordination ☺️). Aesthetically, it’s basically one of the coolest toys I’ve ever bought for my son — especially for the price. I love the big handle & short length of the net, it’s perfect for tiny hands. Also, the net is made out of pretty sturdy material, so even when my son decides to teeth on it or catch toys with more jagged edges, it holds up nicely. The little bugs are so simple & cute, the colors are so pleasant & bright .. Oh, plus, when your little one is a bit older you can use it to play catch outside of the bath so it’s got longevity, too! I really can’t say enough good things about it. And, of course, it’s made by Boon. They’ve yet to let me down in the year or so I’ve been purchasing their products; I just love ‘em. Please let me know if you found this review helpful, as I also rely heavily on others’ reviews when making online purchases 😊.

Good for bath toy for toddler
Purchased these toys for my 12-month-old grandson - he loves them. From past experience Boon toys are good quality and long lasting. I appreciate good design and recommend these to others. NOTE: I’m surprised at the star rating asking for adhesion and suction power - meant for another toy perhaps? I purchased boon water bugs - a net with three plastic bugs. There’s nothing to stick. I can’t choose not applicable so I went midway and chose 3 stars for non existing characteristics.
