I really enjoy painting by numbers. It's very relaxing and satisfying when it's complete. I love the vibrant colors in this set. I don't think I'd call this a beginner set because of the very small areas that need to be painted. I've found that I needed to develop a technique for those areas. However, I do this for relaxation so it doesn't have to be perfect.

Came out looking amazing, I loved everything about painting this one, great canvas and great paints! Such a rare find, even the reds and yellows were no problem to work with!

I had completed another painting of this same image from another company, only to discover that you could not get the fold marks out. So, I was excited to try this one from this company, because they specifically advertise that their version has no creases. Well…they lied. The canvas was folded. I tried to iron it out flat, as a last ditch effort, and ended up with a big burn on my hand and only moderate reduction of the creases/folds. So sad. Canvas holds on to folds for dear life.So, I am disappointed. Sure, you can paint it, and the paints have ok, though not great, coverage. You will have to go over some sections multiple times to cover the numbers. This version is a bit truer to the original in color. The previous one I did was significantly different. But, it will not look great in a frame with all those creases/folds.Why do they just not roll the canvas instead of folding it?

My husband used to paint for enjoyment so I ordered this Cactus paint by numbers for him to get back to painting. The canvas has the picture printed on it along with the colors needed to finish this project. There are adequate paint pots included and this will be a great project for the winter.

There are only two major issues with this kit and they are easily remedied. The canvas is printed with water soluble ink. If you spill water on the canvas it will start to disappear. I was able to apply some clear gesso with minimal smearing but I used a very light coat so it didn’t pool. If water is allowed to pool the printing will dissolve. This happens sometimes when a printer was printing stamped cross stitch and they forget to swap back to regular ink to print the paint by number. It’s not a big deal as long as you know when you are starting. The second issue is that there is no black paint included. Instead of black paint you are given a streaky dark blue. It needs several coats and there are lots of itty bitty spaces. It was too much of a hassle so I just used my own black paint for everything with the number 19. The effect is much nicer with the black.Even though there are two pretty glaring issues with the canvas and paint, it is absolutely worth it. The majority of the picture is black and you are just painting the highlights. Usually I don’t like this but it’s very striking and pretty in this case. I’m a little under halfway and I’m really liking the way this is turning out. The picture is really unique.If you decide to do this canvas do yourself a favor and get some tiny affordable brushes. You can use the provided brushes (trimming down one of the smaller brushes) but you’ll have a much nicer time wi the a better quality brush. A thin coat of clear gesso makes the paint cover more easily. With the lighter colors I was struggling to get coverage with 4 coats due to the water soluble ink and the gesso makes it so I only need two coats. Multiple coats of paint is normal for paint by number kits and not an indicator of quality.

Great value for a large canvas paint by numbers kit. The well made canvas has easy to read numbers and accurate colors. Great fun for all ages.

The media could not be loaded. Nice painting set that I hope will turn into a beautiful painting! I love the look of the picture. Everything is included except the stretcher frame. As soon as the frame comes, I will start painting. The only disappointment is that the canvas came folded and I need to work on getting them out. Reasonable price for this painting set.
