I completely enjoyed Handicap and highly recommend it
I completely enjoyed Handicap and highly recommend it, as it is engaging, imaginative, funny, sad, and clever. The characters are both endearing and infuriating. John Pace has done a terrific job of developing them, and I found myself curious and wanting to meet all of them. Handicap is thought provoking and addresses many issues of our time. You will laugh out loud and probably cry, which makes it a perfect read. The plot takes some crazy and fun twists and turns. It's a race to the finish to find out how it all unfolds!

I enjoyed this great little read immensely
I enjoyed this great little read immensely! Interesting premise, great characters, and just enough plot twists to keep the story interesting without making your head spin. If you like golf, or whodunits, or both, you'll love "Handicap!"

Pretty good, would recommend
Enjoyable, easy read. Had some funny parts and some sad and serious parts. There were some confusing parts and departures from the main idea and timeline, but worth the read overall.

A new and different mystery
I read a LOT of mysteries; from Holmes to Spade to Marlowe, I must have seen them all. But I have never encountered a protagonist quite like Thom. All of 4'7", a golf genius living in a shack on the course, while hiding from immigration, tormented by the memories of his father killing his beloved mother, he is very different from what I am used to. And for me, different is good, I hate reading the same things all the time. I knew nothing about golf before I started this, but now I assume that the author must have spent years working and playing on a Florida golf course. He provides a wealth of detail on how a golf course is run, but does it in a way that is not distracting or boring. He sets up believable characters in believable situations, and keeps you guessing until the end, just like all the great. I can recommend this to any mystery buff.

Fun book to read!
Hapdicap is a well-written, entertaining, and intriguing murder mystery. The protagonist is unusual and interesting. The plot takes some unexpected twists and turns. The ending was a complete surprise! I certainly didn't see it coming. The author's writing evidences a completely mastery of the English language. I thoroughly enjoyed the read!

I thoroughly enjoyed Handicap, a quick read and delightful whodunit
I thoroughly enjoyed Handicap, a quick read and delightful whodunit. Set in my home state of Florida, the story features an array of interesting characters expertly drawn by the author to hold your attention with plot twists and turns aplenty. In depth knowledge of the game of golf – which I don't have – is not essential to understanding the story. It's just the backdrop to fascinating people and a really short protagonist just trying to make a life for himself. In the end..... well, read for yourself. I don't want to spoil it.

Didn't Want to Finish
I got 3/4 of the way through the book before I came to the conclusion that I disliked the majority of the characters on a personal level. It also became ever clearer that the protagonist was going to successfully resolve his ridiculous personal challenges. I honestly just didn't want that to happen. Tossed it in the garbage and doused it with old milk in fear that it would end up in the hands of one of my local homeless personalities and they would think I'm somehow associated with people like that.
