Tethered Float Switch is a substandard device.
The tethered float switch that comes with this is not something you'll want to rely on. Prior to installation I tested the unit by simulating the low position (letting it dangle) and then raising the float to its equivalent high position. The unit would alarm and then stop alarming with the changing orientation of the float as expected. So I installed it.I began filling the sump pit with a hose until the unit was "floating" (water at least 6” above float) but no alarm. I grabbed it lifted to completely vertical since it didn't want to float that way and it finally started to alarm. I plugged the pump back in let it drain the sump pit normally. At that point the unit was dangling downward in a completely vertical position and the alarm was still going off. I then rapped on the switch with my knuckle and the alarm stopped.I repeated the test and this time it went on when filled but didn’t go off when drained again. So I grabbed it and altered its orientation by hand. At completely downward vertically it continued to alarm. If its position is altered abruptly to either orientation by hand it works. Unfortunately this is not the way the way water in pit will physically act so I’m not willing to bank on this float switch performing its intended function i.e. give me time to react to a failed sump and flooded basement.Would have given 0 stars if possible.

Products works as adverstised - you your own screws for installation.
Fairly easy to install. The screws holding the brackets to the instrument are made of cheap, soft metal and the heads easily strip. I wound using screws from my own collection of screws and these worked well. They warn you to use low power for the screws in the manual, but this did not help at all. The fact that I could use another screw with harder metal easily suggests to me that they use cheap, inexpensive metal for the screws. The actual unit works as describe and I am pleased with it. Had they used better hardware I would have given this product a 5 star rating.

Already saved us from our sticky float. Thanks!
We live in an old farm house and the float on our pump seems to get stuck at the slightest provocation, despite our best efforts to remedy that. Directions on the install were easy to follow, and we got it in quickly. In the 10 days since it's been in, it's already helped avert one stuck-float disaster, and we're grateful to have avoided the mess. Others have mentioned the alarm seemed a little quiet, but it worked well for us, and we're quite pleased. The box itself feels heavy duty, and like it will last a long time.

Great Warning System
We have a septic system with a lift station. On several occasions over the last 10 years the pump went out and we had no warning. Needless to say we have a mess to deal with. Those days are over as we now have a loud warning using this product.

Works as advertised -- Could be louder
This is an outdoor alarm and the sound could be louder, but it is solid and works exactly as listed

Waterproof, well made and easy to install.
The unit shipped quickly and was exactly as posted. If you can connect zip ties, you can do this repair.

Fatbergs are rising, BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!
Installed this in my septic pit which gets pumped up to the main. Prior to installation I once again strained the fatbergs out of the tank with my beloved but ever-now-soiled ice fishing dipper, a favourite task of mine. Nevertheless, it came in my favourite colour and screetches like an electric red shouldered hawk. Well done SumpAlarm!

We thought everything was fine and therefore
When we moved into our house 10 years ago, the septic tanks were cleaned out just before we took possession by the previous owners. We thought everything was fine and therefore, 5 years ago we had it cleaned out again. When we dug down to the access covers the liquid waste/water was about 1 foot above the outside of the tank as the tank was filled. We figured this had to do with the ground water just being high and we therefore had a good local septic company come and pump it out. We then filled the ground back in and left it until this spring. This spring we dug out the septic access covers again and once again, there was liquid waste/water about 1 foot above the top of the tank. As this was the second time it happened I was concerned and had the tanks pumped out again. My impression based on what I read on the internet is that most tanks are gravity fed. As I felt there was a blockage in the drainage field I had someone come out to inspect the tanks and we discovered an old septic pump in the corner of the third chamber (our tank has 4 chambers). This pump had failed and it likely hasn't been working for about 10 years. We got a new septic pump installed and now the water pumps out to the drainage field. As a backup protection I wanted something that would alert me if the water level got too high in the tank and I needed to immediately open it up and get it pumped out or repaired. The High Water Alarm with Pilot Light seemed like the perfect solution at a reasonable price. I ordered it on Amazon and it arrived within a couple of days. It was very easily to install and I tested it when it was set up by moving the float up and down to make sure the alarm would sound. It worked perfectly and I have covered up the access holes. My hope is that I never need to use this device but I know it is there as a backup measure.

Cheaper if you buy the parts separately....
This product does what described. However, way to expensive. You can buy the parts separately (50$) and do the wiring yourself in an electrical box. This is as simple as connecting a light bulb with a switch. Also no need to buy sensor with longer cable. Just buy bare wire and do the connection yourself from a central box. Just make sure your connection are protected from any water leakage.

Works as designed.
The unit appears to be well built and does not take up a lot of room in a sump so it should not interfere with the sump float. So far it works fine. The alarm is a bit quieter than expected but works ok.

don’t buy this unit
the cord from the float to the unit is too short to allow outdoor installation of the alarm and the horn can’t be heard more than twenty feet away. a total waste of money
