NO OPTICAL OUT
The description in the listing and on the outside of box are incorrect - this does not have an optical out. It has an optical in only.OPT IN is actually printed above the optical connection on the unit itself.Other than that the only slight issue, was that the unit is a little noisy. It sounds like a fan? The noise does not travel over the audio signal to the amp or speakers. If you are not sitting on top of the unit playing quiet music it shouldn't be an issue (if you are it probably will be). If you are 2 metres away playing music at tv volumes you won't hear it whilst music is playing.Everything else about the unit was better than expected and it functioned perfectly, sounding very good. I would say it's very good value. The app and the remote work well too.If you don't need optical out, then I would think it's hard to beat at the price and perfectly ok. The fan? noise is not an issue if not sat on top of the unit.I could live with the slight noise, but for me the missing optical out was a show stopper because I wanted to feed the optical signal into an external DAC, as I do with my other optical sources. That said the internal DAC was fine ......... and I nearly kept it... but sent it back.I would have given it 5 stars if it had an optical out - as described.

Not what I’d hoped it would be.
At first I thought this was what I had been looking for: a reasonably priced streamer. Research seemed to agree with this, so I placed my order and was delighted at how fast it arrived. Then the problems began. First off, the front of the box states the unit has Optical Out, but the rear of the unit says Optical in. So, I hooked it up to my Denon AVRX amp via pre-out, and spent an hour getting no sound at all. I switched to Line Out, and suddenly had sound. Perhaps I misunderstood the setup which said Pre out should go into an amp?Unfortunately, the sound was quite poor when measured against streaming from my NAS drive via my iPad directly into the Denon. Then I found another problem. Whether I used the manual control on the front of this unit, or the remote control, changing inputs was incredibly slow and seemed to require a complete circuit of the options each time I used it.Next I tried the Internet radio, expecting to be able to easily set an array of favourite stations from the ‘thousands’ we are told this unit can offer. Except, it turns out that the radio offered is TuneIn and Heart, which do not carry most of the stations I wanted - stations which are easy to find on my Roberts internet radio. Then there was Spotify, which I can use in free form via my Roku 2 into my TV. But not from this unit, which only allows the paid for premium Spotify, and other such premium services. The minimal app is also a pain. I play-listed on song from the NAS to test this, and while it did play, I found that there was no way to stop it playing automatically whenever the unit went near that source. As for adding more songs to the playlist, the process was so awkward and laborious, I began to suspect it had been designed as some kind of boredom test. The last straw was while listening to a playlist streamed from my NAS, controlled by iPad, into this unit and then into the Denon. AirPlay kept skipping and stuttering, ruining the experience. So I boxed it up after less than 24 hours and have applied for a refund. Sometimes you get what you pay for, and I thought I’d have to shell out for something much more expensive. Until I discovered the Arylic S10, which at half the price of the TIBO is a splendid little device, and for me works so much better with the equipment mentioned above.

Great for internet radio but you will need a smartphone for full functionality
I use mainly as an internet radio streamer and the sound quality with a good bitrate station is excellent. In order to get this working you will need a smart phone with the tibo app, this is essential. The box has limited functionality with the buttons on the fascia and remote, I managed to get bluetooth streaming from a smart phone with the remote but I can see no way of accessing internet radio without a smart phone. There is also access to multi room devices to stream separate streams via the app, this appears to be a versatile box all for £140.I can't vouch for streaming over a network and a lack of usb input is a minus for those who have music on a memory stick. I am willing to forgive this for the superb performance with internet radio, good radio stations sound really good. There was a small glitch with a sticking button on the remote but this soon loosened up with use and all is ok now.As long as this is reliable then this is a bargain, considering the cost of the more mainstream competition which seems to be 3 times the price

OK But....
Easy to set up but suffers from an extremely poor TuneIn implementation - if you want to stream mainstream Uk radio stations this is really not up to the job. My impression is that they went for the cheapest and easiest UK streaming service without actuallu implementing anything other than a basre bones system - there's no mainstream BBC stations included as standard for example - pretty glaring omission! It works fine for streaming local content from a NAS server for example - if that's what you want it's fine.Mine went straight back to Amazon - it's not worth the money to me if I can't listen to mainstream radio when I want to!

Not wifi compatible in every sense.
Not very versatile, you're sadly not going to be asking Google to play your favourite YT music playlist on "HiFi", for that wonderful marriage of tech convenience with analogue warmth. Only works with Spotify and can't be used in the same way as a WiFi speaker. Other than that you're just left with internet radio stations.Workaround is bluetoothing your mini alexa bixby mobile tablet nest audio to the box, but that's not wifi. Bluetooth isn't very stable, I have to switch it off and on again often to get Bluetooth back.Good sound quality, useful pre-amp. Sub out and phono in all very useful, but It takes forever to scroll through functions. Not particularly intuitive. Looks are OK but I get colour changing lights on my Christmas tree already. Not much wow! And you're not going to be going 'hey look what this can do' to many of your mates. Granny might be impressed... or feign so, at least.
