We are a Vitamix Family
This is actually my third Vitamix. I grew up having a Vitamix (it was their very old model which was all stainless steel). I believe my mom still has it. I then got another one about six years ago and it's going strong and has held up to many uses and now teens using it daily. We decided to purchase this one for my daughter in college who was moving into an apartment. Obviously I am a Vitamix fan, but had yet to purchase a refurbished one. Honestly, it works just as well as a a new one. It's holding up just fine and my daughter reports that her roommates also have enjoyed it and will purchase one for themselves when they are out on their own. She also loves the lower profile as it fits comfortably under the cupboards in her apartment so it doesn't take up too much valuable counterspace. Why a Vitamix? It's more than a heavy duty smoothie maker (although that is what my kiddos primarily use it for). It is a workhorse. It makes soups, nut butters (another favorite in our household), frozen treats and more. That was a huge selling point for us. My daughter has a major food allergy and this way she can make her own nut butters and soups while not having to worry about what was in there or if there was cross contamination in the food facility. She is loving it and uses it daily. The only bad thing she said is that it is very loud, so she cannot use it some mornings when her roommates are asleep (ahh, the hardships of college life ;o) ). She says to give it a five star rating. Lastly, Yes, this was an expensive purchase. I will note here, that because the expense, many people shy away from Vitamixes...understandably. However, when I looked at the price and hashed out how much we save by using a Vitamix along with the longevity of Vitamixes, it's been well worth the money.

Loud, Powerful, Robust, Versatile.
A lot to say about the Vitamix blender. This particular model is 1:1 identical to the unit I have seen retail at Costco. Their buyers must have requested a more powerful motor and specs that place it above other Vitamix blenders in the same price range. Finding this model on Amazon, I have to assume these are diverted returns from Costco inventory. In the case of certified refurbished at Amazon, I have found no indication of prior use and by the looks of it, seems to have been factory repackaged in Ohio. No regrets buying refurbished, in fact I feel that I have accessed a best-of-class product on a steal! It's a great feeling folks. Vitamix blenders have been around since the Pyramids it seems. A lot of people have owned them, and the longevity of their construction is proven. No need to go into detail on what has already been spoken of before. However, particular to this model. You will get a simple control console, better 2.2Hp motor, low profile container, and full warranty..... All at a cost substantially less than new. In fact, if it were still in my budget to reach for a better model, there is little value added for me to step-up. I prefer the manual blend controls (pulse, and manual variable are all I desire), and the 2.2Hp motor is above the standard 2Hp of even some higher cost models. This thing does everything and more. I rub in my friends faces that I bought what they saved up for at almost half the cost. Refurb. on this model is $260, new approx $350, and other models for minimal advantage (in my opinion) retail $500+ This blender will be a mainstay of my kitchen arsenal for years to come, and I am now convinced in the value of having a top tier blender. It is up to any task, and I have already used the blender to prepare food items I'd never have consider possible being made at home. If you're on the fence about stepping up from something mid-grade and you are just slightly out of budget to get this blender, WAIT and buy when you can get this. It will pay for itself. There is a sense of price prestige around this item, but purchasing refurb has brought cost down to a level I can accept. But once you own one of these, I can say you are locked in on a piece of equipment that will last longer than your kitchen will.

so far so great
I have only owned this blender for a short time but have already used it far more than I typically used my cheap low end blender in a year. I am pleasantly surprised with how functional and easy to use this machine is. I was a little intimidated by other reviews making it seem very complex to operate. It is not at all. We have successfully made several sauces and soups and of course plenty of smoothies. The small instructional booklet that came with it was very helpful in knowing how to best arrange liquid to solid ingredients for optimum blending & everything has come out just perfectly. We have a household favorite recipe for pasta sauce made with cauliflower, almond milk, oil and nutritional yeast and it always came out chunky and watery with our old blender, but it's silky smooth & awesome using the Vitamix! I haven't yet tried heavier things like nut butters, however. Despite being made of plastic, the jar seems extremely durable. The 64 oz size is large but I think it's all the better for having extra space especially when you stick a bunch of kale or other greens in for smoothies for two or more people. It does get crazy loud at high speeds but you get used to it quickly and it doesn't seem so crazy within a week or so of use. On a more shallow note, I love the way it looks on my counter and the red color is a perfect shade that could pair well with brighter classic red items as well as darker candy apple red items. I am glad I went with that instead of playing it safe with black. I fully admit to wanting a Vitamix partly because it's an iconic kitchen item I see vloggers using, but this refurbished less expensive model was the perfect way for me to own a Vitamix without investing a huge sum. It came in branded, impeccable packaging and there's nothing about it that seems damaged or used in any way.

Renewed Vitamix Explorian Blender
This is the first time I've owned any type of Vitamix appliance, and it's also the first time I've ordered anything Renewed from Amazon. I've been very pleased so far with this purchase. Presence The Vitamix came in original packing and was fully protected for shipping. When I took it out it was clean and there were no markings over most of the exterior. The only very minor markings appeared on the shiny plastic chin beneath the front controls. It looks like very faint little markings, which you can't normally see unless you get right in front and look (like when you pick it up in both hands). Other than that everything was clear and clean. Overall the Explorean is excellently manufactured with quality materials. Mixing Bowl I call it the mixing bowl for lack of a better term. That's the part (pitcher plus top) that sits on the base. It's heavy and rugged and was completely clear when it arrived. I washed it anyway before trying it out. Use My use so far has been creating various soups, especially tomato. It does quick work of any vegetable I put in, and in the case of soups will heat up nearly 64 ounces of material in between four and six minutes. Noise During Use Yes, it's noisy, especially at high speeds during soup making. For other recipes that do not call for high speeds it's a lot quieter than at, say, six or higher on the speed selection dial. Smell(s) During Use When I turned it on the very first time there was the faint aroma of hot machine oil that came from the base. It quickly dissipated and has not come back. Because this is a renewed item I attribute this to a bit of excess machine oil from the renewal process in the motor or bearings. It is definitely not a big deal at all. Cleanup After Use It's extremely simple to clean up. Fill about half with water, add a few drops of dish detergent, put the lid back on, and turn on the Vitamix for about 30 seconds, running the dial up and then down. After than I washed the exterior with a bottle brush I have as well as the inside of the lid. It cleans up very nicely for the next time I use it. Overall At the price Amazon listed this for before Christmas, this is probably the best deal on a Vitamix I've ever seen. I've barely scratched the surface with this mixer. I've been slowly going through various Vitamix recipes, and they've all turned out quite excellent. It would appear that as long as I take good care of it, this Vitamix will last a good long time and give great service in the kitchen.

I haven't eaten canned soup since
Take a look at the sodium on a can of soup. Point made? I was reluctant to spend the money on a genuine Vitamix, even though I would always sit and watch the demonstrations in the stores or at the fair. Part of my hesitation was that I already had a high quality blender and couldn't imagine how much better it could be. Now my Vitamix sits on the counter and gets used almost daily. Vitamix is probably best known for their smoothies, and you'll soon understand why. You don't get strawberry seeds or uneven blends or pieces of spinach. Everything gets blended to so you're drinking a smoothie rather than eating chunks. This thing actually does live up to the hype that's created. Obviously, this unit doesn't have the "bells and whistles" of the top of the line Ascent series, but you're still able to do everything in the Vitamix world. Smoothies, HOT soups, ice cream, dip, anything you find in a Vitamix cookbook. Getting one may inspire you to upgrade and go with an Ascent series later, but if cost is an issue, this is a great way to get a Vitamix for hundreds of dollars less. Should this thing have a downside, it's that it can get very loud on the highest setting. Others in your house may complain and there's no way you can have a conversation with anyone else in the kitchen while it's going, so that might be a reason to think about the higher end models. If you're able to set that issue aside, you'll get a great deal on a fantastic blender.

Good, but the professional 750 is another thing
I bought a Professional 750 a few years ago and then I bough this as a gift thinking and all in all it would be the same thing. Let me start saying that probably I would by it again, considering that it costs almost 50% of the Professional 750 (new) but it feels and look undoubtedly cheaper. So far I can say that it is only the look and feeling, the functionality is the same (and that is the reason why I would buy it again) but certainly the controls knobs and all the structure feels "cheaper". The 750 is incredibly sturdy, it does not vibrate and it stands still even at max speed, this one vibrates a lot more, if you don't keep your hand on top of the container at max speed it tends to move around (probably I just need stickier feet, but still.....) the plastics feel flimsier.. etc...etc... So.... it feel and looks cheaper, it performers the same with some minor caveats... it costs 50% less.... Your choice..

A Decade of Vitamix Magic Continues with the Explorian Blender!
As a dedicated Vitamix owner for well over a decade, I can confidently attest that the Vitamix Explorian Blender, even as a renewed model, upholds the brand's enduring commitment to excellence. After relocating from Kenya back to the US and leaving my beloved Vitamix behind, I found myself in need of a new one. This was my very first kitchen appliance purchase as the entire family use it daily. Right from the initial use, this blender felt like an old friend reuniting with me. It performs precisely as you'd anticipate from a Vitamix – it's an absolute powerhouse! Whether I'm concocting smoothies, simmering soups, or experimenting with pesto recipes, this blender has yet to disappoint. It consistently delivers impeccably smooth, creamy, and flawlessly blended results, aligning seamlessly with the expectations of a professional-grade machine. One of its standout attributes, in my opinion, is its user-friendliness. The controls are intuitively designed, facilitating seamless transitions between speeds and ensuring I achieve the ideal texture for any recipe with ease. Additionally, it manages to maintain a surprisingly hushed operation, despite the significant power it wields. This feature is a true blessing for early morning smoothie sessions or any culinary venture that extends into the late hours. While the 64 oz. low-profile container design marked a departure from the taller containers I was accustomed to, it has proven to be a space-saving revelation in my compact kitchen. It fits snugly beneath my cabinets, allowing for convenient storage, all without the slightest compromise in the blender's exceptional performance. What sets Vitamix apart, in my view, is their unwavering dedication to uncompromising standards and quality. They steadfastly refuse to cut corners, and this commitment shines through every facet of this blender. Remarkably, it comes at what I consider a bargain price, which makes it all the more appealing. I have the utmost confidence that, just like its predecessors, this Vitamix will remain a loyal and long-serving companion in my culinary adventures for years to come.

Sturdy, easy to clean
This has been a great blender, so far. I really like how easy it is to clean. It's extremely sturdy. I like that you can take the plastic cover out of the middle of the lid to push ingredients down with the tamper. I haven't used it for more than chopping things and making smoothies, yet, but it's worked great for those.

Vitamix = Good
I knew a lot of people that had these for years before I decided to purchase mine. Lots of power, will pretty much blend anything. It’s quite loud on high speed. I don’t think there’s anything you can do about that though, just the nature of a very powerful 12 amp motor. Makes great, frozen margaritas, fast. The instructions say that you can cook soup in it by leaving the blender on for about 10 minutes on full speed. Sure it’ll get hot and steamy but there is no way that it will actually cook the soup. You still have to pour it into a saucepan and actually cook it after you heat it up in the Vitamix on high. Personally, I don’t think I could listen to it for 10 minutes. I went through 10 pounds of tomatoes, salt, and oregano, blended it all up and froze it as a good and fast base for a pasta sauce. Work amazing for quick prep. Excellent blender.

Like brand new! 3 year warranty.
I feel like there’s already endless reviews telling you how great vitamix products are. All of that is true and this product is no exception. But what you might not know is how good is an amazon refurbished vitamix. Well, mine was effectively a brand new blender. Literally indistinguishable from new - all new packaging, plastic covers, booklets (wrapped in plastic), and not a single mark or sign of wear anywhere! Includes all the booklets, including a “certified reconditioned” blender manual with full 3 year warranty from Vitamix, which is amongst the best in the business. Not that I expect I’ll need it, but it’s nice to have the reassurance. I saw on a YouTube video that vitamix products have a 0.5% warranty claim rate. I did not pay extra for warranty - that’s what it comes with in the base purchase price. Note that the product description that says 90 days is just a general statement that amazon presumably makes for all its refurbished products, and note that it says “at least 90 days”. As for the blender itself, this thing is a beast. It’s bigger and beefier than I was expecting. It just pulverizes everything and anything into a nice smooth liquid with no clumps at all. I actually like the wide and short low profile 64oz container. It makes it really easy to load and clean! Super happy with the reconditioned machine!

The best blender bar none
This is our third Vitamix blender, the second one of that exact model with 64 z capacity (one for the main residence, the other for our cabin). The older Vitamix model is still working but we do not use it anymore because of the smaller 48 Oz container is not large enough to blend or two smoothies at a time. This 64 Oz model is way more practical than the 48 Oz one. This thing blends our morning smoothies perfectly. It feels so powerful I bet it could crush rocks (don't try that!). The only thing I very much dislike about this Vitamix blender it is that it is very noisy. This item is renewed but for all practical purposes, it is indistinguishable from a brand new Vitamix, minus the original packing box. Overall I am extremely satisfied with this purchase and I would not hesitate to recommend it.

Fantastic power
Had a less powered blender and kept over heating and shutting off. This blender is extremely powerful for what my needs are. Make smoothies daily and this product works beautifully. I won’t use for soup heating because you need to add an extra step of already cooked veggies. So might as well just continue use of same pot to do veggies in instead of making a mess of two things. Love the vairiable speeds and gradual ability to increase speed slowly. Great machine so far. Also just wash by hand instead of recommended technique to add soapy water and blend. You still have to rinse the soapy water out so no need to add this extra step as well.
