Great coffeemaker!
This simple, small coffee maker is the best one cup maker I have owned, including much more expensive, name brand, multi-featured makers. First, it is fast! Two minutes after pouring the water in and pushing the single button, an 8 oz. cup is ready and the machine shuts off. Then, it has the smallest footprint possible, which is important to me with my limited counter space. It of course accepts K cups, which I use, but also has a permanent filter cup for loose ground coffee which my husband uses. This filter cup has a hinged lid that snaps tightly and does an excellent job of preventing grounds from spilling out. A 5 1/2" thermal mug holding 25 oz. will fit under the dispenser, but taller will not. The maximum amount that you can brew at once is 12 oz., which is about all you would want to brew using just 1 k cup. After I had been using the coffee maker for about 6 months the red light came on indicating it needed the descaling run. I ran the descaling solution through it one time and the red light went off and has stayed off for the 3 months since. At no time did it sound like it was straining to get the water through the tube. The sound of brewing is louder than some previous brands, but softer than others. It is not so loud as to be annoying. This pot does not have a clock or the ability to set it to come on before you get up. It does not have a resevoir to catch the coffee in case you forget to put your cup in place. It does not have a platform so you can use an extra tall thermos. I do not miss any of these features you can pay more to get in other models. It has only one button. Press and release to start the brewing, and a light on the button comes on to show it brewing, and the light goes off when it is finished. Press and hold the same button for 3 seconds to run a descaling cycle. Simple and just right for me!

Happier with it than my Keurig's
I bought this because my Keurig's were always acting up. Works great. Will hold up to 12 ounces. I like that it doesn't have a water tank with standing water in it. Takes a little bit of time to brew but it's a hot cup and brewed well.

Funny you should ask ...
I was looking for a one-cup coffee brewer and this one seemed to come with good ratings at a decent price point. And, tell you what, it does make pretty nice coffee. I used the grounds basket instead of K-cups and the coffee came out at a great temperature with excellent flavor. Used it four times a day. However, just today, as Amazon asked me to review it only a few months after purchasing it, it died. Just plain stopped brewing before it even asked to be descaled for the first time. So now it's headed to a landfill. Your mileage may vary: I liked the coffee that came out, found the grounds basket slightly awkward to use but could make it work, but was highly disappointed with the longevity and therefore the value. Might work for you if you use it intermittently instead of constantly as I did. Didn't see any point in trying again when there are numerous other models out there.

Great little coffee maker
Great little coffee maker. I bought this to take on a business tip to Vegas as the rooms no longer offer coffee. It fit nicely in my suitcase and did its job well. The between the convenience of having the coffee in my room amd not having to pay $6 for a cup of coffee, this thing more then paid for itself.

Does NOT Work With Reusable K-Cups
I got this for camping. I like to stay at campsites with AC power, and this makes brewing a single cup of coffee quick and easy. It comes with two inserts, one that is screened for coffee grounds and another that holds a standard K-cup. I'm giving this unit 4 stars rather than 5 because although the K-cup holder works, the unit will NOT close or work if you use the reusable K-cups. I prefer doing that (easier to clean and less waste than single-use K-cups) but since the lid won't close I'll have to use screen cup. The unit is light, easy to use, and brews a good cup of coffee in about 5 minutes.

Makes a quick one cup as needed and also excellent for use with any tea bag.
Fast brew, right size for my 12oz mugs. I ran plain water through it twice to clean before using, and making a 2nd cup right away for another person will be no problem. I first tried a K cup for tea, and it worked wonderfully last night. This morning I used the loose coffee filter thingie, and coffee tasted just like from my larger coffee maker. I first wished the cup plate was heated, but why? You will be making this right before drinking one cup, not like having a carafe sitting around for a couple of hours. The coffee is hot enough when made, but since I put refrigerated creamer in it, that cools it down so I need to nuke it for 30 seconds after the creamer. You do have to be careful to position the loose coffee filter cup perfectly sideways, and snap all parts tightly in place. I found that cutting strips from big coffee filters and lining the mesh basket helped to keep more grounds out of the coffee, though it’s a little putzy if you are in a rush. So far this little gadget is up to expectations, have not yet had to use the cleaning cycle. Update after a few months — I actually like using this to make tea more than coffee. Just push any tea bag in the K-cup holder, doesn’t need a cap since it’s bagged. If it has a string, just leave it outside and click the cover shut. Since the brew cycle is so fast, I put the used tea bag in the cup for a few more minutes of infusion while I start drinking it.

K-cups Are Not For Me :(
Edited 3-10-2025 K-cups are designed to make only 6-8 ounces of coffee. This is not enough. Fortunately, this maker has a basket filter for bulk grinds. I will need to open two pods to make one 12-ounce serving. Keep this in mind if you're considering a K-pod system unless you drink very little or weak coffee. I had previously given this one star, due to the terrible design and lack of instructions on how to open the filter pod. It is not immediately obvious, even to someone as mechanical as myself, repairing things like automobiles, televisions, washing machines, being an electronics tech for over 40 years, etc. I finally had to pry this thing open with a dental pick tool. After this, the method to open would appear to be to hold it in both hands and press your thumb up on the plastic plastic piece shown on the left side of my photo. The other thing I will alert you to when you open this coffeemaker and wonder why the K-pod holder appears to be missing is that they pack it into the water reservoir. So, these annoyances aside, how does the Horavie K1500 fare? Being retired and living alone with absolutely no friends, I finally realized that I'll likely never be making coffee for anyone other than myself and I typically brew 12 ounces at a time. The compact footprint of the K1500 takes very little real estate from my very small counters. The fact that I can just brew straight into my thermal cup means no carafe to clean or pour from. The K-pods mean I don't need to bend a cone filter's edges, grind coffee beans, or measure in grounds. These may seem like trivial things, but once you retire, you start thinking about ways to reduce the little daily chores. At least, I have. This is why I've "Smartitized" the house, automating practically everything: lights, fans, heaters, stereo, television, etc. Aside from opening the filter pod, this K1500 is easy to deploy. The first thing is just to add 12 ounces of water to it, place a cup in the stand, an push the button on top. I like the fact they put it on top instead of on the side of the base. Very convenient. Empty the first "brewed" water and grab a K-pod. I'm assuming this is the primary reason people buy this coffeemaker. This is my first experience with K-pod makers. I would never buy the overpriced Keurig units, especially aftwr discovering they actually put cameras in some of them to try and prevent consumers from using other than Keurig coffee pods. What a jerk move. By the way, if you own one of these, just save the foil tops from Keurig pods and tape them to the top of your other brand pods. This K1500 does indeed brew a 12-oz cup in under 2 minutes. There is, of course, no hot plate, so I advise using an insulated cup. The blue one in my photo has a capacity of 16 ounces and works well. I also bought it on Amazon. The unit turns itself off. I add my sugar before brewing, so I need only to stir and snap on the lid. The temperature of the coffee is slightly on the lower side. The best coffee is brewed between 190 and 205 degrees Fahrenheit. This maker does not come close to reaching these temperatures. I measured the stream with a laser thermometer and found it to be around 160-165 degree at its hottest. This should be adequate for most people. The first coffee pods I purchased are Mel's Drive-In Diner Blend. I will not review them until I've tasted them more, but the initial opinion is okay.
