This is an awesome training manual about life!
I liked the way the book started with a fork in the road. Isn't that true wit life? Each day it seems we come to a fork, we have a choice to make. We can listen to tye still small voice or we can ignore it and go our separate way. The book teaches that God is with us in the great times of our lives and he there especially when we are the weakest. Thank you for writing this book as a guide to lead others to The Way!

perfect message at a perfect time
I found this book after watching the movie. After 10 years, my husband are separating and for the past couple of weeks I've been struggling with trying to figure out exactly why..what, if anything, could have been done differently. After a particularly rough 4th of July weekend, I was holed up in my apartment watching movies. After watching one (I don't even remember which one) Seven Days in Utopia was a Netflix recommendation for me. I have always loved golf and Robert Duvall so I made some popcorn and settled in for what I thought would be a 90 minute distraction from my thoughts. Wow! Was I wrong!! The movie hit me like a ton of bricks, opening my eyes to a much bigger picture of what was going on in my life and where I am headed. From there I was directed to the website, ordered the Kindle version of the book. Since then I also went through the 8 lessons David has on the website. I just finished those lessons and now have ordered the physical book as well the new book in the series as well. I plan to give this book to my husband and if know that it will help him as we move forward as friends.

A golfer suffers a horrible round and leaves the course a shambles
This book is one of those books wherein I did not want it to end, e.g., i took my time reading this one.It is extremely well written and chock full of insight. This is a book about golf, yet it is applicable to everyone.Bottom line: A golfer suffers a horrible round and leaves the course a shambles. He literally encounters a fork in the road, and chooses to drive to Utopia. There, he meets a very wise rancher, who helps him find his swing in more ways than one. After having read this book, there is a high probability i am finding my swing.I thank the author for having this book published. I have the e-book and a hardback edition, both remain in my permanent library. Job well done.

See it, feel it, trust it
This is my all time favorite book about golf - and life! I have read this book numerous times, and have recently shared it with my two children ages 8 and 12 who are junior golfers. On the surface, Golf's Sacred Journey is a story of an aspiring golfer dealing with the insecurities, frustrations, and failures of trying to make it as a professional golfer. But the deeper message in the book is how we travel through life, and how we touch others is the true measure of success. You can tell the true character of a person more by how they deal with adversity, challenges and failures, than by their golf score. Each chapter is a lesson about life, and Dr. Cook uses the metaphor of golf to clearly illustrate how our decisions and convictions have brought us to the place we now reside. Patience, humility, forgiveness, and love will help us all to have a rich and rewarding life, and will also help us with our golf games. Plan and visualize your life's journey, practice patience and balance, and hold on to truth and tradition and you will live your greatest dreams.See it, feel it, trust it!

why do movies always remove so much of the good stuff...?
I have loved the movie for a while. I admit to reading the books backwards, because I saw the movie. So, when I read this inspiring book, I realized how much more comes from the truths here, versus those from the show.I am so excited to know this Johnny as a loving and teaching father and family man! To me and my deep faith, families are the pivotal and central part to a good and solid society. I love that our main character finally finds the greatest truth of his life through the assistance of a family. The Lord is the way, the truth, and the life. See Him. Feel Him. Trust Him. All lives will be blest as a result of that. Great read and counsel that anyone can grow with. Thanks

A great book! Looking for more from David!
God is good! So good and in this book… God speaks to us about so much more than the game of golf. Enjoy!

Been Down This Road Before
I'm a golf addict. If I'm not playing the game, I'm watching it on TV or reading something related to it. My life in retirement is golf.I caught wind of this book during a tourney on TV and decided to track it down. I found it on Amazon and bingo it now sits on my night stand for daily reading before I fall asleep.Okay, here we go.This book, Golf's Sacred Journey, which I am mid way through, reminds me a great deal of Golf in the Kingdom. You know, older guy teaching a young dude on the true and meaningful aspect of the game. Only difference, so far is that Sacred Journey is set in Texas. Both are current films which as of this writing, Spring, 2011, have not been widely released.So....if ya' like to swing the stick Laddie, and it's raining and the course is closed, read this book. It's not a "how to do this" or "how to do that" but a book for the mental spirit-golf is more than how many strokes, how many putts, what's the newest driver, or iron set.... but a game where the hole is the center of the universe.Sit dow and read one or both books. Golf in the Kingdom changed the way I look and play golf. I'm hoping Golf's Sacred Journey has something of equal value.

Great book for golf... and LIFE!
This is a great book for golf... and for life. Golfers will like the principles relating to playing really good golf. However, the spiritual component is critical for a good life. I suspect that it's how many of the good golfers keep their perspective on the course. And the golf principles are probably used by many on the PGA tour to help keep their focus while keeping it "simple." Let's face it, golf is a great game but it is still a game. And so few golf-lovers can play it for a living so they are blessed. But we are all blessed if we can develop the focus to see our blessings, similar to the focus needed to play really good golf. And ALL golfers want to play really good golf!! Why not use this book for a really good life!?!?
