Func Industries Mouse Surface 1030 Mousepad Black

I have owned this mouse surface for several years now and I have many good things to say about it and an area or two that could use improvements.First it is slick and my Logitech gaming mouse slides across this thing with ease. Having two surfaces to choose from is nice as well.Mine came in a nice metal case and it's fit and finish are excellent except for the clip that holds the mouse wire could have been designed a bit better.The only other thing is that my desk is glass (worst thing for traction) and this thing will not stay put in heavy use while gaming.I periodically clean all surfaces and that helps some with the movement.I know making anything sit still on glass is a tall order so all in all I love this thing and I do recommend this product!

I bought one of these mouse pads when they were first introduced. I loved it so much that I bought three more of them because I wasn't sure how long that it would last. Well, I have been using my original func surface 1030 non-stop almost daily for over 25 years! I have tried other mouse pads for a little while but I always come back to my old trusty func surface 1030! After my Herman Miller Aeron chair, this is the best investment I have ever made in my life! I have gone through so many different computer systems and mouse over the years, but my chair and this mouse pad have been the constant for the whole time! =D

My first purchase was bought a couple years ago when the product received actually looked like it's advertised here; that is, a mostly black mousepad surface with a logo on the bottom right. THAT product was incredible and was without a doubt the best mousepad I've ever owned or used - period.However, now func industries seem to be shipping out this defective mousepad with a big silver AX logo in the middle of both mousepad surfaces, front and back. This logo seems to be giving myself and everyone else's mice tracking issues to the point where you can't even really play games without glitching out a bit. This is unfortunate and a tad unprofessional - you shouldn't ship things out that haven't been tested and approved yet. Clearly they didn't test the new model since it would have resulted in the same problems that the rest of us have.The point is--and as much as I don't want to say it--unless the manufacturer goes back to the old model or fixes the problems with the new one here, do not buy this.

You might think that the fancy sensors in today's newfangled mice can track perfectly fine on pretty much any surface, and you'd be right. You might also assume that having a mouse pad would then serve very little purpose, and that is where you couldn't be more incorrect. It doesn't matter how much money you spend on a fancy mouse, the surface you move it across is always going to be half of the equation. Having a surface designed specifically to improve the tracking and motion of a mouse can make a huge difference, and this mousepad is one such surface.I've had my Surface 1030 for over 5 years now. The surface has worn down a bit in places over time, but it still functions brilliantly. The metal clip for holding the mouse cord doesn't do much for me, but depending on your desk setup and type of mouse it could be incredibly helpful. I keep my mouse at a relatively high sensitivity, so the modest size of this pad has more than enough space for my needs. I have recommended and/or gifted this mousepad to many friends and none have been less than thrilled with it. This is a gaming investment worth every single one of your dollars spent. (and a surprisingly amount, at that!)

Did not work well with my Razor Naga Hex mouse, ended up buying a difference product for my main computer and this pad was re purposed for a different mouse and computer setup. No matter how I adjusted or which side of the pad I used it would cause my Razor mouse to jump and skitter across the screen. I tried adjusting mouse software settings to no avail, eventually giving up on the pad for use with that mouse.

Mousepad is well made. Product consists of mouse cord clip, rubber mat, and plastic mousing surface. Mousing surface fits into the rubber mat, which does a good job of keeping the pad from sliding around. The rubber backing also helps deal with imperfections on the desk.Mousing surface has two sides. The 10 side is smooth, while the 30 side is rough. The 10 side provides an amount of glide matched by few other mousepads. The 30 side is not as slippery, and is meant for more easier control. The 30 side however, is very rough, and will cause significant wear on mouse feet.Because the rubber backing has borders that surround the mousing surface, certain mouse cords may drag noticeably on the borders. Proper cord management will prevent this from being a problem.Mouse cord clip is very cheaply designed and made. It will serve its purpose, but is not an elegant solution.I have tested the following mice on this mousepad and they all track well: LogitechMX510MX518M500G500Mionix Naos 5000

I have now purchased two of the "classic" func pads, and I have to say I'm most impressed with them. They come with two sides; one is a little rougher, the other very smooth. It's preference really, I play with the slightly rougher surface as it feels more natural to me.The only reason I have two is I am working in a different city, and have a small "home away from home" that requires it's own system. The pad stands up to the test of time very well, and I've never noticed any wear. Natural dirt / dust that accumulates can be removed with some IPA very easily, does not damage the surface at all. The rubber backing does wear down a little bit though, but I believe I have had my original func pad for the better part of 5 years, and it is still in perfectly playable condition.Hands down, best mousepad for the price. I recommend this to all of my friends.
