Platter Mat For Vinyl Turntables

There is an immediate increase in resolution I suspect as a direct result of a lowering of the noise floor. This however was initially countered with a loss of bass weight, soundstage width and dynamics due to me no longer using the platter clamp on my turntable. Fortunately I persevered and experimented with tracking force finding that an increase of about 0.15g towards the upper end of the recommended range brought everything back into focus and the overall improvement is simply night and day, and this is on an already high end rig with countless hours of tuning invested in it. This is one of those rare upgrades to your system that has you wanting to immediately listen to every record you own all over again in order to hear the bits you've been missing all those years. It might seem expensive for a mat but it's just saved me from spending £700 on a new arm :-)

Sounds good but don't like the static it generates

Expensive, but good quality, well cut and good size to match turntable diameter. Lies flat, and does not curl at edges. Difficult to say how much it improves sound quality.

Said it was ok for linn sondes lp12 but I found it too thin and the edge of the vinyl was touching the platter

Great product, really really great. The sound difference this made was just so plain to hear. Probably the most cost effective upgrade you'll make.On top of that great customer service. The mat was damaged in the post and the company replaced it without my even asking. Very happy customer.

This is the best turntable mat I have tried so far. Unlike other mats I have tried this does not leave any stuff on your records. I tried the Rega red 100% wool replacement mat and it always left loose fibers on the record. I tired the tonar leather mat it also left rubbery stuff on the vinyl. Don't waste your money, I wish I had just gone for this one in the first place.

...I've heard no promised "stunning improvements" after replacement of TDK felt mat with this one.The sound quality has been remaining the same.The real differences are:- mate has not been sliding on a plate;- mate is thiner than "native one",what allowed me to slightly reduce a stylus tracking force.Too trifling for the price, but (+1*) for that.Packing/delivery time - OK, one more (+1*).

I don't know if it's a placebo effect or if this mat really did make a difference, but the sound reproduction did seem to improve once it was in place. The fact that it doesn't attract and hold dust like a felt mat is also a plus.
