Ghost Sniper
I enjoyed the books from Stephen Hunter about the sniper Bob Lee Swagger. I also enjoyed Healey's "Sharpshooter" about snipers in the the Civil War. I was hoping for more of the same. I loved the action and the characters along the way. I was a bit disappointed that there wasn't more of the two snipers and their mind games. I know this is a series, but would have liked a finality instead of "read the next book to continue". However, due to characters and a good story line, a 4.1 out of 5 rating.

Interesting storyline
The struggle from the beach to the hedgerows of Normandy were similar to some of the history books I’ve read. The storyline is more personal and up close. I love the little investigation finds. All said it was well done.

A Good Story
This is a very good story, but with some technical flaws having to go with the rifles used and also the aircraft involved. A little research into the loading and unloading of bolt action rifles would have helped with the author's credibility. Also more research could have been done into which was the USAAF's ground attack aircraft in Europe. The devil is in the details. All in all it was a good read. I think that I'll continue with the series and see if the technical details get better.

Good Introductory Novel!
I ran acroos this book while looking for something interesting to read. The plot caught my attention; it reminded me of the book "Enemy At The Gates" by William Craig recounting the Battle of Stakingrad in the winter of 1942-43. In the film, based on the book, a fictionalized version of Russian sniper Vasily Zaitsev, a Hero of the Soviet Union during World War II becomes engaged in a snipers' duel between himself and a Wehrmacht sniper school director, Major Erwin König. I like Healy's style of writing, he includes a good deal of historical detail of eevents surrounding the main characters. The main characters, Micajah Cole, a " backwoods hunter from the Appalachian Mountains in the American South" and "the dreaded German “Ghost Sniper” who earned his nickname on the Eastern Front (in Stalingrad and Poland)" are pitted against each other during the landings at Normandy on Omaha Beach and the subsequent Allied invasion to liberate France. I enjoyed the story and after finishing the book was happy to discover that it was the beginnin g of a series based on the Cole character. I feel those who like action and or history will enjoy this and others in the series!

Thrilling storyline.
Very entertaining story, I look for the next installment. The author does need more hands on knowledge with the firearms involved, but still a great novel.

Disappointing
It is reasonable to expect that an author writing about a fictional US Army sniper during the WW2 Normandy invasion would become moderately well informed about the sniper rifle used during that era. Unfortunately, there were enough factual errors and misconceptions by the author about the 1903-A4 rifle with 2.5X rifle scope used by Army snipers in Europe during WW2 and about the opposing German K98 rifle that it detracted considerably from my enjoyment of the book. I will not be reading any more books by this author.

Not too bad
Interesting story concerning a sniper regiment landing in Normandy on d day. The main character was a bit too much of a hero though, although it is good easy read.

Not bad, but...
If you just wish to have something easy to read on the beach next summer, OK. Not that bad, but there is much better on the market, especially in that genre.

German sniper versus American sniper
I liked this book, but at times it seemed to lose its way, but over all it was a very enjoyable read, but only four stars, I do recommend it though now going on to iron sniper!

Don’t believe the blurb
Double line spacing and padded even to fill the 290 pages. I’m truly surprised at the favourable reviews it received, sure it’s fiction - Hillbilly meets French filly to Shoot the Red Baron. I read better in DC Thomson comics when I was ten
