This helmet is definitely not ECE rated but from its construction it should pass DOT, so it's more than just a sticker. ILM is a known manufacturer of low-cost moto gear. The helmet itself has a number of nice features including a chinguard to block noise and wind and a breathguard to help control fogging. the visor is clear and stiff but does not accept pinlock. There are two vents on the top of the helmet that vent across the scalp and one on the chin that vents to the visor. the spoiler at the rear has two passive vents that are always open.. the strap is a rachet made of reinforced nylon--good for convenience but I'd rather see the simpler and stronger double-d on a child's helmet, or at least a steel ratchet.I ordered a child's XL. the size is very close to and adult XS but the height of the ILM is shorter, making it an excellent fit for a child. the padding on the inside is identical to an adult helmet and is of good quality. the images are accurate for shape and color. overall, for a child's DOT helmet at this price, it's very good.

His helmet was getting a little tight. This one fits him really well. He said he loved the smell of it, hahaha. It smelled like like 'new helmet' to him I guess, so that's a bonus. You don't want it to smell bad, hahaha. The hook system is different than anything I've seen. It's much quicker than the double d-ring of most motorcycle helmets. It's also pretty quick and easy for him to take the helmet off by himself too! The face shield slides up like you'd expect.

perfect for my son who occasionally will jump on my bike and ride around the block. he is 7 years old and a medium fits him perfectly. it is also DOT rated which is the only helmet i will put on my son and it feels like it is quality made.

I wish I'd ordered this style for myself instead of the other ILM model I purchased. This helmet fits my 9-year-old son PERFECTLY and looks sharp. The matte black finish is flawless and the visor clicks up and down solidly. There is sufficient padding to protect his little noggin, though the inside pads could be a little softer. Willing to overlook that part for the price, the feel and the quality of this helmet, because I don't think you could find a better protecting kid's helmet for the price.
