It's badass, man!
One very classy looking shirasaya. I've had over a dozen Japanese swords and tantos, and this one rivals all but one or two of them - and they cost a lot more. Beautiful, sharp blade with a nicely defined temper line. Well balanced. Really nice woodwork too. I suspect it'd prove fully functional if needed. Definitely worth the money.

Excellent
This is an excellent sword, especially for the price, incredible value. The wood is very expensive looking and the craftsmanship is impressive. I do not see many flaws at all. The sword is sharp, but not a razor, nor should it be. The blade is beautiful and it feels solid yet nimble and relatively light. 1095 is proven steel. I would buy it again. Very pleased.

As good as it gets at $250
As good as it gets for $250. The ebony (if in fact it is ebony) wood is a rarity, more expensive and elegant. Running your hand along the length of saya (sheath) and tsuka (handle) reveal some slight waves and bums. So for $250 you’re not getting perfectly crafted woodwork, but it’s still impressive. The fit between handle and sheath is adequately flush and secure. The horn fittings between the saya and tsuka are not uniform in color. Just a natural imperfection, but again an example of less than premium quality. The blade is ever so slightly misaligned with the handle. But not noticeable unless you look carefully and plumb. The steel of the blade itself is advertised as Damascus which is historically difficult to confirm. More accurately it is what’s called a patterned steel. That is, the forging together of at least two different steel types always affording a distinct swirl of the two contrasting types. The types of steels used is rarely revealed with such swords as is the case with this katana. So there can be no assurance of performance or durability. The pattern itself is certainly present, but not impressively so throughout the length of the blade; especially with just the naked eye. A camera zooming in does a better reveal. The sword feels very solid in the hand and while swinging; though on the heavy side; especially at the handle end due to the dense ebony wood. I’m glad I bought it for the price. It’s not perfect but still beautiful enough.

Nice
I've looked at a lot of Zatoichi style swords but this is by far the highest quality I've seen.
