Great Resource
I love this book. I think it really gets to the heart of purposeful writing. I am currently teaching from the Anchor 1 section in my classroom. I find it very beneficial to have the standards arranged vertically at the beginning of each standard. It reminds me of where I am going and I also communicate those future standards with my students. So what kept me from giving this book 5 stars?1. It is incredibly overpriced. As an educator, I cannot imagine producing such an incredible resource for my fellow educators and then making it essentially unattainable for so many. Yes, I know the publisher sets the price.2. It can present as a bit overwhelming. I think many teachers would appreciate at least an example of lesson sequences. The Common Core Lesson Book by the same author is also incredible. If you were only going to buy one ELA and one writing book for CC, these are the two to buy.

Helpful!
This has the standards written out vertically from K-5 grade. It has a lot of great ideas and explains what each standard really means. There are some great resources like organizers and checklists. Wish they would make a book like this specifically for primary or intermediate to see more detailed lessons.

Worth EVERY Penny. Best book I've bought as an educator.
This is THE book to have to teach common core writing. Lucy Caulkin's is too full of needless sh*t. This book gives you the pragmatics for a teacher who has to teach reading, math, science, social studies, and health in a day that requires 2 hours of reading and 1.5 hours of math.

Great resource
Owocki has done it again! She has written an easy to read and easy to use guide for teachers who are implementing Common Core. She has provided detailed lesson maps, graphic organizers, and management tools. What a wonderful resource to be able to turn to as Common Core is being navigated by all.

I haven't fully read it yet, but briefly looking at some standards and activities, I can tell that it will be a great help for the year.
