A 6” Tomtom for a few pounds more than the 5” version
I have had many iterations of Tomtom satnavs, this must be my 3rd or 4th and yes my navigation skills are that bad.My old unit is no longer supported and the map is a good few years out of date, the bigger screen size is a big plus and the somewhat lacking touch screen (by phone standards) is still much better than the old one I had but this is the basic model so I shouldn’t complain, the interface has been simplified which for a new user is great but if you have owned a Tomtom before is a bit of a pain, lots of things hidden away now that used to just be there at the bottom of the settings page, but after a bit of googling you can set it up just how you like it.The only downside to this latest version is you can’t customise it like you could older units, which is annoying, for example I used to have POI’s for places like Burger King, Costa’s, and places like that with custome markers on the map, the Burger King logo for Burger King and so on, so it was really easy to see what and where the nearest food and coffee places are on my journey, the software is now locked down so that’s no longer possible, all you get is a selection of coloured blobs, same thing with the warning sounds, they too are now fixed but you can work round this by getting the device to read out the warnings for speed cameras rather than all the bleeps you get instead. If like me you get lost on the way to work Tomtom is fantastic, the maps are great and most importantly the routes Tomtom chooses are actually the best routes, my car has a satnav built into it but the routes it chooses make it not worth using, even after updating it, thanks BWM, for me at least Tomtom has been and still is the best standalone satnav, yes you can get a similar experience on your phone for free, but it’s not as easy and reliable to use on the go as Tomtom is, why on earth car makers put there own inferior units in cars I have no idea.Haven’t rated the voice controls as my car also has voice controls which are useless, so by default I just turn all voice controls off.

Beware the touch screen!
I have a TomTom in my works vehicle. Can`t fault it. This one however has a major issue in that the touch screen is very very unresponsive. This is a major concern as entering info such as postcodes gets very irritating. Everything else about the Go is great. Fix the touch screen!

Would buy it again
Fairly good. If i were to buy a gps again i would probably buy this one. Recalculates the route fast in case you missed the exit or took the wrong turn.Good batery life. Touchscreen in allright i guess but i found that it is easier for me if i use my keys or card instead of my fingers.
