Full disclosure, I received this item as part of Amazon's Vine Program in exchange for an honest review, good or bad. I must admit, I was shocked at how tiny this electrode storage container was when I opened it. It is only 8 inches long. My welding instructors never told me there were rods shorter than 14 inches. Granted, that was 30 years ago, so they may not have been invented then. However, this holder only holds electrodes 7 inches long. Now that I go back and look at the description on Amazon, I see that it is for the 7-inch rods. My mistake.With this being said, this is an excellent holder. It is very strong and durable. It is built like a tank and waterproof. The magnet on the end is a nice touch. It also comes with an aircraft cable style keychain connector if you want to attach it to your work bag. I have found this type of keychain connector will undo itself if you don't use a dab of Blue Lock-Tite.While I will not use this as a welding electrode holder because I will stick with 14 inch rods, I do appreciate that the metal divider that segments the tube into two spaces, comes out. As it turns out, this holder fits 18650 and CR123A batteries perfectly. That is what I will use it for. It holds five CR123A/RCR123 batteries perfectly, with just a little room to spare at one end. Putting a cotton ball in it will stop the rattling. It also holds two 18650 and one CR123A batteries or one 18650 and three CR123A batteries, which is perfect for my flashlight and headlamp. Since this holder is waterproof, light weight and strong, it would be an ideal way to carry extra batteries when camping or for emergency preparedness.Now I just need to order a 14-inch electrode holder from this company. If it is as well-made as this miniature version, I will be delighted with it.

Ordered this thing as I’m in the middle of a garage reorganization. For years I’ve just kept my welding consumables on my welding cart, just scattered everywhere or thrown in various boxes. Recently I moved a bunch of my filler, tungsten, and other supplies to storage containers on some shelves. It looked great, but when working, wasn’t super practical as I’d have to walk over, open the container and pull something out.I’ll be honest; as a hobbyist, I’ll admit that at least once per project I’m dipping my tungsten. That being said, the way my garage was reorganized it would take so long to get up, grab a pre sharpened one and get back to work. With this little case, my tungsten is stored right on my cart so it’s always easily accessible AND being that the case is magnetic, I don’t have to worry about it falling over with my gloves on.The quality on this thing is great, however, the little divider at the top seems to have trouble staying put. I’m sure at some point I’ll lose it, but it still doesn’t take away from the usability.

This little holder is excellent for holding whole 7 inch tungsten rods, or partials. Because the base is magnetic, you can keep your rods attached to your welding cart or attached to some other surface within easy reaching distance of your project.I like that there is a divider, but I wish it spanned the entire distance of the holder so that I could keep shorter pieces separate. It is handy, though, for those pieces that are 7 inches long.It is sturdily made and easy enough to open and close.For $20 at the time of this review, it’s a bargain. I’m thinking of getting a couple more for better sorting of the partial rods.
