This is way better than those little subpar chocolate advent calendars; it lasts longer, more enjoyable, and is reusable.The objective is to complete one box of 42 puzzle pieces per day starting December 1st, so that the puzzle is completed on Christmas eve.Challenging - The pieces are small and the colors of this puzzle are similar enough that I would not recommend this for small children. It might even be challenging for some adults. As the box says, the sections vary and some days you will accomplish the section quickly, and other times it will be more challenging. I think it could take 15+ mins per day to complete. This is a nice break, but not too much time that it feels overwhelming with all the other activities that go on during the holiday season.TIPS to make it easier to solve –The puzzle is made easier because all the puzzle pieces in one box connect together, so you are not sorting through 1008 pieces, only 42.On the back of every puzzle piece it has the number of what box it came out of. If you flip over a piece, the orientation of the number will let you know how the puzzle piece should be oriented when assembling (see puzzle piece on box in picture).Included in the box is a poster of the exact size of the puzzle. If you assemble the section on top of the poster, it you will be able to see where each piece goes (see my photo of with the cross pieces – they fit perfectly on the poster where the cross is). You can temporarily assemble each day on the poster, and then slide it off and connect it to the main puzzle.Recommend – yes!I like the concept of a puzzle advent calendar, and that it can be reused year after year, or after you have enjoyed it, you can get another one for yourself and give this one to someone else. The current listed price of $29.99 seems reasonable and comparable to other puzzles.

I was looking for something a little different than a chocolate Advent calendar this year. I wanted something that we could open up and do as a family together. This puzzle idea was perfect. It arrived quickly and very nicely packaged. The event calendar itself is a great quality, it comes with 24 boxes that contain 43 puzzle pieces in each. Each. I know that it is a little early for Advent, however, I wanted to put a couple together so that I could write this review. I put the first couple boxes together, they were relatively simple no harder than a normal puzzle and so far it looks great. The puzzle pieces are sturdy cardboard and are not flimsy. They are nice size puzzle pieces so even for younger kids or older adults they would still be able to see just fine. This is one of my favorite ideas that I have seen for an advent calendar. It will be hours of family fun for a low price.

I bought this calendar for my adult daughter- who has alway been an avid rock collector. She has had a blast with it- discovering a new Rick each day- and learning about it. (Although she did say that not all rocks have matched up with their pictures.). Still- it was a great purchase and I would buy again.

Every year I get my daughters advent calendars that don’t include chocolate, candy or food of any sort. My oldest daughter is looking forward to opening her first day and can’t wait to wear them! The packaging is nice and we haven’t opened them yet but the stones look like they are good quality!
