Cost vs. Value of the e-Pill Station
Anyone caring for someone with cognitive issues can understand how difficult it is to care for them and to make sure they are taking their medication properly. For four months prior to this purchase my siblings and myself have been struggling with our fathers condition and where his medication regimen changes. Trying to get him to understand instructions whether verbal, written, labeling and numbering pill boxes, phone calls, and other methods, no matter what we have tried, somehow medication got missed or too much medication was taken. The e-Pill Station is expensive. I looked at the product and felt it was overpriced. However, it does work and has been working flawlessly for the last three months. Going back to price of the unit, as a purchaser you have to look at the product as to what value it brings to the table. And that value is the cost of time and the amount of time trying to manage a difficult situation and the responsibility a caretaker has for the well being of a loved one. This product is one of the most helpful additions in caring for our father. It has simplified the whole process of administering medications. It has also simplified what our father needs to think of. When the alarm goes off, pull the lever, whatever is in the cup is what you take. Doses are no longer missed, and there is no question in his regularity as he has quickly adapted to this. The value this product brings is that our time can be better spent to our fathers other needs rather than in constant communication as his confusion and difficulty of speech makes it hard to understand the questions he previously had as to the medication routine, and where every day seemed like a new challenge to him. The e-Pill Station has eliminated questions and confusion our father had previously. While I wish the product cost less, I am more than happy in this purchase. It has been a tremendous help to all of us and the value it brings to the family is worth every dollar spent. The product is reliable, and a smart and well thought out dispenser. The simple tilt operation is easy to comprehend. I also appreciate all the programming buttons and display to be under the lid so that my father doesn't have the capability to mess with the settings. The product provides some level of security by making it difficult to open the unit without breaking it due to the key mechanism. While it is a plastic locking assembly, it is a deterrent. If you are caring for someone who is taking controlled substances and concerned for your loved ones safety, or if the loved one is a potential abuser, this product is not for you. There are other products, more expensive, that are metal, are more secure, and very difficult to break into, such as the e-Pill CompuMed Safe. For the e-Pill station, I would strongly recommend purchasing a spare medication tray. The tray can be preloaded with medications at your home and is easily swapped out when visiting your loved ones home, rather than sit there and count out medications. See the following website for the tray that works with this model.https://www.epill.com/automatic-pill-dispensers--accessories.html

Best device on the market for aging adults who have Dementia and/or Vision Loss
I bought this device for my 85 year old mother who has Alzheimer's disease and Macular Degeneration. So, she has no short term memory and cannot see well. She had been in rehab for 5 wks prior to coming home and had also lost some physical strength and dexterity in her hands and fingers. I needed a device that didn't require memory, knowledge of date or time, an auditory alarm but NO buttons to press to turn off an alarm, no requirement to open or close plastic pill containers, no small text that says doses (i.e. morning, lunch, dinner, evening). And this device works perfectly. It requires no vision to read or interaction with text or numbers or buttons, it has a large manual handle that simultaneously thru tipping it shuts off the alarm, the pills go into a large aluminum container, which make an auditory cue as to what's happening (pills going into container). I 100% recommend this for anyone who's trying to help an aging parent stay home with may have dementia and/or vision loss. She has taken her meds with 100% accuracy since the day i put it in her house. I've watched her (initially) try to open it in all the wrong days and it just doesn't allow it. It's bullet proof. There is only one thing to do with this machine, which is tip it to dispense meds. Excellent design for a growing customer base of aging people with Alzheimer's and/or vision loss. Automatic Pill Dispenser with Lock. Up to 6 Daily Alarms e-pill Station. Locked Pill Box, Tipper and Medicine Dispensing Cup included. Home or institutional use. Helps your Mom/Dad stay independent.

Works well, but the price is outrageous
I have had a stroke, and among other things, I have a lot of pills, three times a day. I bought extra trays so that an RN can come once a month and refill it. I can then just change the trays weekly. It seems sturdy, the stand is made of metal, and the dispenser is made of plastic. The nurse sets it up, and at the appropriate times, an alarm goes off. It is easy to tip the tray and get your pills. For the cost, I think there should be an option of taking the pills early, or putting it on pause. The key issue is real. The port is flimsy and I often drop the key once or twice trying to get it to fit.As many have said, the cost is ridiculous. I felt I was forced to buy this expensive model because other dispensers didn’t meet my needs. At BEST the dispenser should be under $200, and that includes the upgrades I would like. I gave it 4 stars. I took off a star because of the price.
