Review for Carl HC-340 hole puncher. February 8, 2022.PART 1This hole punch is a high-quality product. Made of metal not plastic. A well made product. Heavy duty, great paper punch. Highly recommend the product. Shipping was also fast.PART 2I got a hole puncher in a damaged package, with scratches on it. Amazon sent me a replacement, but this one also arrived with a damaged box and with scratches on it.I just need one hole puncher and the other to return. If I don't send one back they'll charge me for both. But to get one back is complicated from where I am now. I'm going to have to keep them.I recommend the manufacturer to protect the hole puncher with a plastic. A plastic bag will protect the product from scratches. And then put it in a box.I recommend Amazon to put this product with the original box in another box when shipping to avoid damage during transport. Especially when sent from one continent to another, as in this case.This hole puncher is made of metal (which is good), but also heavy which requires proper handling during transport.

PROS:- I really like the FIXED POSITIONING of the hole punchers and the paper guide. The positioning puts my 8-1/2x11's right down the middle of the binders I use, the location of the holes work great, not too close to the edge nor the text of the printouts themselves. There is of course no chance that myself, or in the case of the mail room others, knocking any adjustments as there aren't any here.- It can cut clean holes with 40 sheets of 20# copy paper no problem, though from 30 sheets on up you need to use a bit of a multi-push push/pump on the handle. You essentially pump it down a few times, probably leaning in with your weight to prevent exerting oneself too much.- It can cut through 25 sheets of 20# copy paper very easily with sharp, clean hole punches.- The sheets of paper don't tend to move/squirm around at all while punching the holes even with 40 20# sheets stacked.- Feels 1960's metal office accessory tough.CONS:- If you do massive amounts of paper hole punching and doing it 25 sheets at a time is not efficient enough for you, you might look for a hole puncher with more leverage to make punching through 30-40 or more sheets a breeze. If I knew of one I'd mention it here.- Of course if you know you'll need to adjust the holes or positioning of the paper this is not the one for you. If this is for an office you might consider getting this for most of the hole punch work and get an adjustable for the unusual needs.DURABILITY:- I've only had this a few days, so I can't speak to durability. It feels solid, I'll add to this review if it has problems in the future, however, its use will be very light. Goes by the full model# HC-340 on the box for cross-referencing.Hope this helps someone out. This works great for my needs.

I can't say enough good things about this hole punch! In our office, we use three-ring binders all the time, so I use this hole punch nearly every day. I felt wasteful purchasing this hole punch after having purchased a heavy-duty Swingline hole punch only a year before. But I couldn't be happier with the CARL. It's important to not that this model only works for 8-1/2 x 11" paper, and the spacing of the holes is not adjustable. This may not be a good fit for everyone, but it's perfect for my use.PRO's:- Durable over time: works as well today as the day I bought it, with no degradation of quality or usability- Cuts through 40 sheets of 20# paper with little effort- Very sharp punch heads cut clean holes, with no hanging chads- Solid metal construction that feels like it will last a lifetime- Heavy weight of the hole punch makes it stay in place when using- Chip tray holds a lot and is easy to empty- Good warranty- The fixed holes and guide mean I never have to worry about readjusting, so something I punch today lines up perfectly in a binder alongside something I punched last year. CONS:- Haven't run into any yet.... But I would say that if you need to 3-hole punch hundreds of pages of paper on a regular basis, consider looking at a higher capacity punch.

I bought the CARL hole puncher because I frequently need to punch documents that are 20 pages or more in length. I have used several cheap options in the past. Using those cheap one is always frustrating because the typically will tear the holes when you get close to the page capacity and also bind the punchers.Some immediate observations after receiving the CARL is that the unit is very well built with an all steel construction. It has heavy duty springs to prevent the steel punchers from binding. Another feature are the rubber feet to keep it from slipping on your desktop.When using the puncher for 20 pages or less, the effort required to punch the holes is very minimal. As expected the effort increases as you approach the 40 page limit. Regardless of the number of pages the holes have been very clean with no tearing. Also I believe there have been a couple of times that I may have gone over the 40 page limit and the unit was still able to handle the load.Based on my experience with the unit and given the price, this is a very good value and I highly recommend to anyone looking for a high quality hole puncher.

Wow! A well made product???? Can't believe I've finally come across one!This thing is so thick and sturdy, it's just a real pleasure to use.These feels like how they made things back in the good old days. Metal not plastic. Quality not junk.It slices thru paper like nobody's business. It feels like it will last forever. I am soooo glad I went for quality over saving a few bucks and getting a cheap piece of plastic junk.Kudos to the manufacturer for creating such a quality product!TLDR: buy this thing. You'll love it!

This is the best hole puncher I have ever used. I’ve had one in my classroom for years and it works as well as the first day I got it. I can punch holes in a class set of papers without any pages getting jammed or ripped. It’s completely made of metal, works smoothly and is extremely sturdy. This is the third one I’ve purchased as I offer them as a gift to my students interns when they finish their internship. Every teacher needs one in their classroom.

Came today quickly. So far this doesn't disappoint. One thing is clear it is very sturdy. The fact that it is not at all adjustable is a plus. I'm tired of having to individually adjust the sliders on other hole punches which results in uneven distribution between the holes. This thing is a beast.

This is durable. It will punch many pages at the same time, without a lot of arm pressure being needed. I like the fact that nothing is adjustable. It's not going to get out of adjustment as multiple users take it off the shelf, make their own personal adjustments, and knock it around a little bit in the process. In other words, the holes are consistently in the same place, every time it gets used.

Carl does not disappoint me as its reputation.
