What I learned while trying this camera out, in the order learned:1. The minicam is tiny (a cubic inch), well ventilated, with all the ports and controls (power switch, external storage, status leds) nicely organized together on one side, and it has a socket on the bottom so it can be attached to a base (included). If the base is fixed the camera can still be manually rotated to literally any angle (including straight up or down).2. The included User Manual gives instructions for obtaining the "O-KAM Pro" app (APP). The APP is required in order to use the minicam, or even to find or connect to it via bluetooth.3. The Pre-Setup instructions in the included User Manual mention installing the APP on a phone (only) but the device need not be a phone. I personally am using it to manage the minicam now on a tablet (an Android 12 Model Q8 with 2 GB RAM).4. In order to proceed with the installation of the APP you are required to click that you Agree with the "Privacy Policy" and "User Agreement" as linked.5. After agreeing with the linked documents a login page is presented with fields for Account and Password and the admonition to "Please login". However at this point no account or password has been created so that's a bit of a head scratcher. There is also a link to "Email notification code login" so I used that to input an email after which I input the code emailed to me, after which the APP displayed.6. Once the APP is on the device homepage the next step is to connect the minicam to it. In my case it opened a scanner to obtain the Q code but I could not get a sufficiently bright and clear image to complete the process so was told to enter the Q manually. The Q is very fine print so rather than squinting at it I tried connecting via bluetooth again and this time was successful in pairing the minicam, after which the APP found it.7. After the minicam is paired by bluetooth and added to the APP the next step is to connect the minicam to wi-fi. The wi-fi has to be 2.4GHz. The connection can be the same one the device is currently using or another to which it has access. I've set it up both ways (device using one and the minicam another, or both using the same network). The important point here is that the minicam will not operate unless it is connected to a working (functional and on) 2.4GHz wi-fi. If it is not connected to wi-fi at any point during or after setup it will display "not connected" and will not operate.8. After connecting the minicam displays on the APP in Super HD. It's a fine crisp image but there is a long delay (minutes) in showing a change. Fortunately by clicking on the Super HD it can be changed to SD which is also a great image which now shows up in real time.9. The range is good. I'm viewing images in real time with the minicam in the back yard and the tablet in my office at least 30 feet away.10. Night vision is excellent. It's totally dark out but the image on the APP is bright with clear definition. Shades of gray rather than color, but very crisp.11. There are constant "Motion Detected" events from the slightest change. There are options to fine tune areas for detection (Activity Zone) I've not yet played with, and the detection can be turned off.12. The minicam also picks up sound, and you can make a screenshot, and the APP displays the minicam battery level at all times. There are lots of options within a very professional APP with lots of features.13. There are various additional services offered within the APP such as Cloud storage for a small charge.14. When the device is in portrait mode the APP displays short minicam view and settings. When the device is in landscape mode the minicam view switches to full screen.15. Finally, APP permissions. It asks for Contacts, and by default adds permissions for Camera and Location. I've since denied and/or denied ALL permissions for the APP even while running and do not see any degradation in performance whatsoever.

Incredibly versatile little camera for security, monitoring, or capturing night video of animals!
I love a product that is just as much fun to use as it is useful. I wanted to use this little camera to monitor my telescope at night, and as a security camera for when I go camping in my teardrop RV. It has been helpful for both uses, with one caveat...it's not waterproof...despite being listed as an 'outdoor camera'. Yeah, you can use it 'outdoors'...just in dry weather...so I don't really consider that an 'outdoor camera'. Hence the subtraction of a star.As long as you understand it's limitations however, there are many uses for this camera. I've used it for a indoor window camera where I can see if packages have arrived, or someone is at the door. I use it to watch my dog in the yard, or when she is in the den while I'm working at the other end of the house. It works great for this as I can also hear her if she barks or cries.I was a bit disappointed when using it as a monitor for my telescope. Granted, you don't (purposely) do astrophotography in the rain, so it don't really worry about waterproofness for that usage. The downside is however that there is no way to turn off the IR light. My astro camera is IR light sensitive, so it ruins the image if the camera is currently exposing. It's possible to use an angle that doesn't really bath the telescope in IR light but it's not as effective an angle for monitoring. The rest of the features are great. I love that it can be charged while using, the TF card slot, very lightweight and low profile. love that it has a built-in 1/4"-20 threaded mount on the bottom for attaching to a tripod or other mounts. Image quality is pretty good, and the night vision is quite effective. Audio is a little lacking however so don't expect to pick up conversations or decent audio unless it's right beside the subject.I like the app for the most part. It has all the relevant features I would normally need. The only real questionable app issue is what the app collects as far as personal data. You may want to read the fine print before purchasing just in case it could be an issue.I like to mount the camera on a small tabletop tripod for indoor use, as the photos show. I attach a small lipstick style USB battery bank and it runs almost all day. There are some cameras that have the ability to turn off the IR light, and put the camera in 'sleep mode' to save battery, or for intermittent monitoring sessions that would have been good additional features for this camera. But overall, I recommend this camera as long as you know its limitations.

This is a handy, discrete, little camera to have at an affordable price. I find the picture to be clear and I love the motion detector and how it will outline a human in a red box. I placed this downstairs so I can view the cats while I am working. I have had it on the windowsill facing out toward the walkway to detect movement outside. I find it works best in optimal lighting conditions. Night time, naturally, it does get a bit tricky. It does not like screens nor tinted windows. The porch light must be on in order for me to view the front door, otherwise, it's difficult to see anything. Being that it is tiny, it does run through the battery quickly, but the phone app will let you view the battery power remaining. Not bad for the price.
