Really does work
This really did work, i needed quite a lot but it made my buttercream perfectly white, I did whip the butter for around 10 mins before making the buttercream then used this once the buttercream was made, it would not have been white without using this though, I used it for a 3 tier cake, bottom tier was fruit cake with royal icing and the other two were madeira with buttercream, this helped make the buttercream match the colour of the royal icing.

Ok
This product is ok, it certainly does lighten buttercream, however, that's all it does, it doesn't give you white buttercream if that's what you are after. I find that a tiny bit of purple food colouring counteracts the yellow and gives a better result. I tested 2 batches of buttercream, one using the Wilton white icing colour and one with a tiny bit of purple food colour (only a tiny amount so it doesn't turn it purple) and then compared them next to each other and the batch using purple food colour was 'whiter' than the batch using the Wilton white colouring (which I found still had that yellow tint to it).

Whitens icing without aftertaste
I was very sceptical when buying this icing whitener but I needed something to truly turn my buttercream white and I thought it was worth a shot! The consistency of this whitener is quite a lot like thin paint, only a little is required to whiten a buttercream to a pure snowy white. I was concerned about an odd taste being detectable but had no reason to worry as it tasted just like a regular vanilla buttercream after the whitening was added. I feel that it was very good value for money as I only used about a tablespoon in a kilo batch of buttercream.

Great white colouring
I’ve added a photo to this review so you can see the colour differences, the white bowl had the buttercream in, you can see how yellow it was and the silver bowl is with the white colouring mixed in. You do need a lot to make it white, I did 4 squirts around the bowl. It hasn’t changed the taste of the buttercream. Would definitely recommend!

Does Work - Lots of Product Needed
It did lighten my buttercream - but I needed a lot of product. I didn't use it to get a pure white cake (that might require the whole bottle), I just needed a lighter base from which to tint my buttercream a pale pink. It worked well for this.It is a liquid, so will loosen your mixture and may need to be countered with more icing sugar. It didn't seem to have an effect on the taste of the icing. I also tried out the Sugarflair whitening powder, and I preferred Wilton - liquid seemed to be more effective with buttercream.I have dropped a star as you do need lots of product. I wish it were more concentrated - then it wouldn't effect the consistency of the mixture so much.

Buy this!!
This product is great when you need Super white frosting, helps to brighten frosting colours and can be used with melted white chocolate, I recommend adding small squirts as you go otherwise choc can seize up due to temperature! I used to used powder (superwhite) but this is 1000 times better in my opinion! I just wished they had bigger bottles

Amazing👏
I never usually review my purchases but I am that impressed with the white wilton food colouring I felt it deserves it!!I've been trying to achieve a pure white buttercream for a long time! I've tried lots of different methods but have never achieved a full white...until now! Absolutely chuffed with the outcome of the buttercream I've made this afternoon! The picture I've attached speaks for itself (on the right is normal vanilla buttercream with no colouring added, on the left white chocolate buttercream using wiltons white food colouring!) I have always been skeptical about buying white colouring as I never thought it would work or I would need to add two/three bottles to achieve something close to white. I would 100% recommend this product!!

Good but a bit pricey.
This did colour my buttercream white although i need to use quite a bit of it. Good tip is to add it directly to the butter when beating and that way it takes less. The bottle i got must have had a small crack somewhere because it leaked and the product eventually became dry. Thought it a bit expensive for what it was but i was pleased with the the result i got from it. Would certainly buy it again but begrudge the price.
