10% Docosanol, same % Docosanol as Abreva
How is it 10% Docosanol, just like Abreva? You can use this product daily, but if you tried diluting Abreva several times over, it still would be too harsh for daily use and ineffective tooo. I've tried, trust me. The company that patented Abreva all those years should have sold it as a lip balm instead of as a cream. They prob wouldn't have made as much money though, since lip balm is so much more effective. If anyone is a chemist, can you please explain this?DOCO is an amazing product. It's equally as gentle as chap stick, but far better than Abreva at preventing cold sores and possibly better than Abreva at treating them. The only problem is that it's so good at preventing cold sores, I haven't been able to test its ability to treat existing sores.

This really works! If it didn't work for you, consider using this with other protective lip balms
I love this lip balm because it really prevents cold sores, feels moisturizing, and has a great fruity flavor. I don't really like minty lip balms, and most coldsore-preventing balms are minty flavored, so this is a winner for me. Also, for the people who say that this doesn't work, I've found that no single cold sore lip product works for me 100% of the time. Consider buying this and a few different types of cold sore lip balms to rotate through. The most effective ways for me to prevent cold sores is to:1. Use one cold sore lip balm daily at night.2. Have 2-3 different products on hand for this because using the same product consistently might work for a few months or years, but will lose effectiveness unless you rotate different ones. I like DocoShield and Cold Sore Begone. I'll switch between them each week.3. Use a sunscreen protective lip balm in the day, if you go out. UV can induce cold sores.4. Aways have a cold sore lip balm with you in case you feel a slight tingle. I think DocoShield works for this, but I like to have a backup emergency lip treatment that kills it on sight. Campho Phenique is my favorite, and I use it very sparingly because it makes my lips tingle in a numb way.

Great lip balm
Ok being honest I purchased this because it had good ratings but I really didn’t look at the reviews. I was seeking a lip balm that my FSA covered. However this is a freaking gem. It’s thick and really helps keep the lips moisturized. I even ordered more still not knowing it helps with cold sores. I just realized today that it helps with cold sores too. I don’t even get cold sores but guess what? I’ll keep on ordering this product because it’s just that good.

Same active ingredient as Abreva! Plus Update
I have only been using this a short time but I put right where it is tingling. I started get cold sores with the rain and unseasonally cold weather that has hit my town. I get them whenever my immune system is low ie a flu, cold, stress, insomnia etc. I was looking for something cheaper then abreva. The problem with abreva is that it is so expensive that keeping it on hand can be a budget breaker. If you don't have it on hand, if the tingling starts at night by morning it's too late. Docu is great because you can use it all the time not just when you feel the tingling. I have one on my nightstand, one in my purse and one on the kitchen table. I have been putting nonstop on and around my lips. I believe that this will keep me from ever having to deal with them again. This a relief after 30 years of dealing with these on and off. I appreciate the low price with abreva I always felt like they were gouging us. I mean seriously their price is out of sight. This company has the right idea keep the price low enough and offer it in a moisturizing lip balm that can be used continuously rather then as an emergency treatment. UPDATE: Just ordered this product again. Still plenty of product left but I never want to run out. I use these daily all day long and especially when I feel itchy or tingling on or around my lips. AMAZING!!!! I get other symptoms with my cold sores like fatigue so I know it is just under the surface running through my nerves but I haven't had a cold sore in the whole time I have been using this product.

The Tubes Are Defective!
This product really works! I love it and would use it every day to prevent cold sores and relieve them when they begin. But have bought it both with Lysine and without—except for one pack the tubes don’t work properly. Once I turned the tubes enough to raise the balm it was impossible to lower the balm down again. Hence the cover tended to get stuck on the product and created a mess. If not for this problem it would give it 5 stars and a perfect review. It’s much less messy than Abreva and if you take Lysine as a supplement you can get the Doco without Lysine which is cheaper. The balm has hardly any scent and no unpleasant taste. If only the tubes worked properly I would be very happy!

better than anything else!
first I must say, if you're considering buying these then you probably know the unpleasant life of cold sores. these "chapsticks" have literally changed the game for me - I've not had an outbreak since switching. They feel like a regular chapstick but with a tiny hint of the numbing sensation you would get from applying abreva, which I appreciate because I can feel it working. I keep them all around (one in my purse, nightstand, in the living room) because you know how important it is to apply as soon as you feel the warmth/tingle coming, so the pack of 3 is great for that. I never feel weird about whipping out this doco chapstick in public because anyone would think it's a regular balm and it's so much easier than doing a dollop of the white cream. I can't explain how grateful I am to have found these and no longer have to carry abreva on me all the time, cold sore free since 2023 let's goooo
