Wonderful colored pencils
These Goldfaber pencils are wonderful! Great for details and layering. Very vibrant hues without having to press hard. These are my new favorite colored pencils. I wish they had tins with more in them 48 is now the highest. Worth every penny and so glad that I bought them.

Top Quality
Beautiful colors and pigment. Easy to use pencils for beginners and professional. The quality is better than any other brand. They are still made in the same town in Germany after all of these years.

Worth Every Penny
I have always done my drawings in graphite pencil. Everyone suggested to me that I try doing my drawings in color. Since I don't care for working with paints, I decided to give color pencils a go. I didn't know if I was going to like them or even be good with them, so I purchased an inexpensive set to start with: the Castle Arts 120 pencils set (shown). I did some basic coloring book pages with them and really liked the numerous color selection. However, I kept reading and watching videos on good the other brands were. I just happened to come across a set of 24 Prismacolor Premier pencils that weren't that expensive. I started using them, and all I can say is it was quite a difference in the way they performed. I also decided to purchase a few sets of the Black Widow colored pencils. They were really nice as well. Then I came across a set of 12 Faber-Castell Goldfaber pencils. I purchased them to give them a try. That's when I realized the quality of the Faber-Castell Goldfaber pencils. They are simply amazing. And quite frankly, I truly prefer them over every other pencil I have tried. They lay down smoothly, nice color, they blend and layer very well (better than the Prismacolor in my opinion). I saw the set of 48 and had to have them. Someday I will invest in a set of Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils. But for now, the Goldfabers are doing just fine for me.I attached a picture I am currently working on. It is not finished, I just started it and have a ways to go. Maybe when I finish it I will update this post. But I do believe you will not be disappointed with them, especially for the price. Wish you luck.

Soft lead but not that soft
The colored pencils are pre-sharpened with really sharp point which is unusual to me as I bought over 10 brands of colouring pencils and none of them do this. Because the sharp point is very easy to break but it is not not the case of Goldfaber. To my surprise, none of the points break during transportation. I also find Goldfaber able to hold the sharp point really well!Compare to Faber Castell Polychomos maybe Goldfaber is soft lead but I still think Goldfaber isn’t that soft. Anyway, soft lead pencils aren’t able to hold sharp point so it is not a complaint but just an observation of the pencils features. The colour selection of 48pcs is very good (compare to my latest addiction 48 colours Winsor & Newton coloured pencils) I like the color range of Goldfaber more. I personally like softer lead though.

These colored pencils rock!
Faber-Castell is a company that has been around since 1761. The Goldfaber brand came about in 1935 - all that to say, this is a company that has some experience making colored pencils. I am now on my 5th set of Faber-Castells. These are wonderful. I love the colors - the pencils sharpen easily, and the colors blend well. I don't swatch or do lightfastness tests. I order pencils, open package, smile and color. All of my FC pencils that I ordered have so far arrived undamaged. These pencils are highly recommended.
