Ultimate Shadow Palette, Eyeshadow Palette - I Know That's Bright

These are so bright and I love em, don't know why modern makeup looks don't pop color more often but absolutely this palette is as pretty as the pictures, and lasts all day

I bought this palette for a Boy George costume. I didn’t pay attention enough to realize some of these colors are for your face and cannot be used on your eyes, so just make sure you watch for that when applying. Otherwise, this is such a great palette. The colors are super pigmented (in my photo, I actually used a setting powder to tone them down because they were so pigmented. I was bordering on clown!) A little definitely goes a long way, which is great if you’re worried about going through it too quickly. These shadows are definitely buildable. The eyeshadow and face pigments go on smoothly. I had no issue with clumping or it wearing off throughout the night. With NYX in general, I find you can’t beat the price for their quality. I highly recommend if you’re looking for bright, fun colors to add to your look.

I initially got this palette because I knew NYX was a pretty good brand and the colors would all be neutral enough to be pretty versatile. However, there were some caveats that you might want to know before you buy it. 1) It’s a bit smaller than I expected. Although the pans of each color are decently sized that they’re plenty easy to work with, overall it was just a bit smaller than anticipated. It’s around 3/4 the size of my hand, thought it will probably run to about 1/2 on most people. Again, not a big deal as there’s still plenty of product that you can access easily, just not as big as other palettes I thought it would be similar to. 2) The matte shades are not super pigmented with one layer. While there are a few exceptions (notably the red shades) most others would require you to build them up to be more noticeable on the eye if you’re going for more than a very natural look. The shimmers are more obvious, though they’re more “shiny” than shimmery, as it doesn’t read as sparkles or glitter on the eye like it does in the pan. You still get a similar effect, just more subtle in the sparkle. And at least for me, it took a little bit of finessing to get the layer to look eyes and not sort of blotchy or uneven like it does at first. And while I’m not super experienced in makeup (so this may have just been a skill issue) it’s just something to note that they will not look perfectly even on the first go. 3) The top lid of the package does smudge easily. While this isn’t a huge deal as it doesn’t impact the effectiveness of the eyeshadow itself, just be warned that your fingerprints on the clear plastic and the black outline will be semi-noticeable. On a positive note though, they appear to build very well, as I started with a matte shade and added a shimmer over top and it looked great. While I can’t speak the to blendability of the shades, they at least layer nicely. The pans and the inner compartments don’t feel super loose, and don’t seem like they would pop out randomly, although the black insert that holds the pan feels like it may be able to be removed, but I couldn’t figure out how. So it feels sturdy enough to last, but could be difficult if you’re replacing individual pans or the insert itself. It also closes very securely, and I wouldn’t worry about it popping open on accident. If you struggle it opening packages like this though, it may be a bit hard as sometimes it can be a little difficult to open. Overall, I would say this is worth the money as a good neutral starter palette, but I would still recommend waiting for it to go on sale to make it even more worthwhile (since I got it during Prime Day and only paid $13 rather than the other listed price of $18).

Became my favorite palette instantly. Highly pigmented and melanin favored girls friendly!

The colors in this eyeshadow palette are nice, and it doesn’t smudge. However, it arrived completely broken, so I’m unable to put it in my makeup bag or take it with me at all.
