There are just some things that can't be found any other place than the beautiful Windy City I twice called home, and one of those is the famous Italian beef sandwich. The hardest part about leaving Illinois is Leaving behind all of the wonderful foods that I grew accustomed to. Where I am now, its all about cheesesteaks. Many I've talked to have never even heard of an Italian beef. I was missing Chicago's flavors badly, so I decided to do some searching and shopping and came across this bad boy. Chicago is one place where food has rarely ever let me down, so seeing as its made by a Chicagoan IN Chicago, I trusted my guy and went for it and bought it along with some giardiniera, and bought London Broil and crusty bread locally. I made them one night for my family here and they were blown away. Even I was shocked! It tasted just like home, like the fond memories I left behind of my childhood and growing up, with a hint of oregano. Needless to say I've made them on many occasions, and when I run out ill be buying 3 bottles instead of 1!

This is ok Italian beef seasoning; however, I find that it is a bit mild and lacks a truly strong Italian flavor. It gets lost if using in a slow cooker or Insta-pot. For the price it is quite expensive.

I grew up on the South Side of Chicago and this seasoning doesn't taste like any of the places I've eaten at. But keep in mind, there were probably a hundred or more places in Chicago that sold Italian Beef and there was no way I could have possibly tried the beef in every one of them!With that being said, to me its not authentic. But its good! And it has a bit of a spicy sting to it. Would I buy it again? Yes, because its good, not because its what I grew up with.I give Chicago Johnny's 4 our of 5 stars basted on taste (not authenticity!) alone!

I don't leave a lot of reviews. It usually has to be a 5 star or 0 star experience for me to throw my 2 cents out there. This makes great gravy for Italian beef sandwiches. For years I've gotten beef kits from a famous Chicago restaurant chain, but price has been going up and quality going down so I was looking for a substitute.This product far exceeded my expectations. I was even lazy when cooking it. I made my 3 cups of gravy and crock-potted a roast all day long. It still had the taste of home I was needing. I will definitely be buying this again in the future and exploring their other products.
