brilliant little book
This is billed as a fable for children - and it might be, by I am most certainly all grown up, and I loved it. The book is a political commentary - of post Brexit Britain and of Trump's America, and yet is strongly uplifting and inspiring. I think I'm going to search for my own mirror fragment now...Very short at 80 pages, including some lovely illustrations, I was able to read this in a hour, but I suspect it will stay with me for days - at least

Read this book to a child. Better than giving them gold...
This is definitely a book to hold in your hands. It is very accessible for children and would work well as a bedtime story read. The coloured pictures by Chiara Coccorese are a delight.Adult fans of Jonathan Coe will not be disappointed. I could not help thinking this short fable was the prequel to a whole new series of post-Brexit noir that is curdling in Coe’s brain at this very moment... But that is the beauty of Jonathon Coe’s writing, you never really know where he is leading you until you are there.

Excellent read
As ever, Jonathan Coe provides a curious main character with a story that has a unique twist. Really imaginative.
