I ordered this hot knife for camping. We're avid campers with all the required camping stuff. We use nylon rope for everything that needs to be tied down like our canoe. The hot knife makes it easy to keep all the shreding nylon to a minimum. It's also incredibly helpfall around Christmas with all the foam packaging that will reuse later with the knifes help. We haven't used it for fabric yet, but I can see it in the future. Easy to use and well worth the cost.

Works great but I would appreciate it if they added more blades, and different size blades.

This well designed (safety) and well made hot knife is worth it just to cut styrofoam alone, which is what I got it for - but my wife likes to use it with fabrics as well. To help understand why, imagine being able to cut through styrofoam like a box cutter but without any of the annoying little bits that come off during the cut because the knife itself is hot and prevents those little bits getting loose. This is what this hot knife does beautifully.

Works great for cutting large pieces of styrofoam. Do it in a well ventilated area because there are fumes. It cuts through easily without the mess of little pellets everywhere.

I use a hot knife when doing scenery for plays. This thing melts through foam like warm butter on a hot day. You don't need to use force at all, it glides through most anything. I have yet to try a PVC pipe, but I have no doubt it could handle the job.

Using this tool, I will no longer have to put up with styro-snow all over the floor... and me. This well made hot knife will allow you to get straight, clean cuts in foam, fabric, nylon/poly rope. There are several different blade that easily attach using four nuts. You attach the blade, plug it in, set your starting temp with a dial, pull the trigger, wait a few seconds, and start cutting. You can quickly adjust the temp up or down as required. The only thing that I was unhappy about was the label next to the heat dial. It's just a little sticker that was already starting to peel. I will be replacing that. If you dial in the right temperature, you shouldn't get a lot of smoke or fumes, but you should still use it in a well ventilated area.
