Scribblenauts Showdown (Nintendo Switch)

Disappointing
It might be best to look up some videos of this before buying it, I had seen the initial announcement trailer with the awesome looking Rock Paper Scissors game but let me tell you that game is not included here, this wouldn't have been so bad if the mini games included would have been along similar lines but they just aren't.There's just over 25 mini games and some of them are as simple as shake a bottle and tug of war, of course some are the word themed games you would expect from Scribblenauts but I find often the word you use for the game doesn't make a huge difference. You can go through and play the mini games or you can play in "showdown" mode where you go along a board, they do offer some interesting cards to play during your turn in the board game but it's still very basic. Finally there are a few sandbox modes where you can explore and create in a nicely themed world, this was probably the most fun but ultimately it was still short lived and makes you think they may have been better just creating a new full Scribblenauts game.I usually enjoying mini game themed games and I picked up this game knowing that was what it was however I feel it's just lazy and doesn't provide enough fun or want to go back to. After an hour and a half it felt like everything was done (bar the sandbox worlds), I would recommend waiting for a Mario Party switch!!

A new spin on a Scribblenauts game
Scribblenauts Showdown is the most recent Scribblenauts game, a series where normally players would complete puzzles or platformer levels with the help of thier notepad, typing anyword to make an item appear and using the item. This game has a different approach to the series and thats in the party mini game style, players must compete with each other (or the computer) at these games either as just mini games or in a board game style match. The board game is cool though abit simplistic, but the mini games are excellent, they can at times be repetative, but the way they have a scribblenauts twist is really cool. For example, play a flappy bird type mini game, riding whatever you want, type in Cheese, it becomes Flappy Cheese, this is one example of the many many things you can do, across the mini games. There is also the games classic gameplay used in Sandbox mode, where you have various maps and you can put whatever you want in and do whatever you want with it, you can also like in Super Scribblenauts, add objectives, making loads of interesting and hilarious possibilties. The game may initially come across smaller than most of the other games in the series, but really its a huge game. The only let down for this one is that it no longer features the item builder mode, so you cannot add custom items to the notepad, not even the characters you create to play as in the character creator get added to the notepad, something I thought was a shame. There are also some words that dont seem to be in it anymore, including Jesus and Rick Roll as just some examples, but I do appreciate that games can change over time, I just wouldve expected them to keep previous games dictionaries.Scribblenauts Showdown is an awesome game though, its focus on mulitplayer gameplay works fantastically and the fact they still put in the sandbox mode to freely play about with is fantastic. Its one of those fun games that wont neccessarily be played in long amounts, but definetly alot of short amounts, it will keep getting returned to as its hilarious, full of content and stuff to play about with and is alot of fun.

Great Game That Helps Kids Learn At An Amazing Price!
This is great game for kids that helps them to spell without them even realising. I have 2 children and as this is both single and multiple player they can play together or alone. They have to spell words within the game to then create items to play with. It is not only creating items but adding adjectives to things in the game, there may be more things to add but as of today this is all I have noticed. This is also a great price as in the Nintendo store the digital copy is currently £34.99.

bit boring ..
a bit boring.three stars for the sandbox mode - which is like the original mode where you solve a level with your own imagination (words/items).don’t understand why they turned away from the unique play experience connected to your own creativity :(

Non English box supplied
My boys asked for this game for xmas, so i jumped at the chance to buy it at this price.. Although I'm sure that it wnt make much difference in the grand scheme of things, i was surprised to recieve a French edition of the game rather than the UK version pictured 😂 let's just hope my boys don't want to use the game manual from the box.. Delivery was fast and well packaged--so no issues on that front, just wish the box was as pictured
