Too wobbly
I had high hopes for this focus rail. AstrHori's lenses are top notch, and I hoped this would be a good match for their excellent 25mm macro.It arrived with a tiny screw missing so not a good start. Easily fixed though, as I found the screw in the box and put it back in.Firstly, the base is very narrow so there's no stability side to side when you place it on a table as in the description. it would be fine if I put it on a tripod but I didn't get that far.The big problem is with the micro adjustment. As you turn the knob, the base shifts by a millimetre or so, which translates to several mm at the end of the camera. So when stacking, you get a few frames that line up, then the next couple will be completely out of alignment. Then out of alignment again in a different direction and so on. Not good when you're stacking a few dozen images.
