The molded case fits the unit well and will not allow you to set the speaker in the case off kilter (unless you force it). Once you zip it up, it feels like it would genuinely protect the speaker if it took a little tumble. I'm not saying you could throw it off a building - the case is rigid, but not that rigid. Seems like it will do a good job of keeping dirt and dust out, also. Not waterproof (of course) because of the zipper.I like the orange accents that match the JBL shoulder strap that came with the speaker, so it looks like it's part of a legitimate JBL accessory set. The sewn in carry straps are short and comfortable to use.All in all, would recommend for good protection, with a good appearance, at a reasonable price.
