The story writing and the psychological aspects of resistance and resilience is absolutely beautiful
Absolutely beautiful. Resistance against age and entropy. Undying spirit in a world of no hope. Amazing book.

A little overhyped but still a masterpiece
I was so highly anticipated to read this story, i first wanted to watch the movie but i decided to read it first, it is a simple story yet it's so nice to read especially the monologues and how he feels, each villain in each issue represents Bruce's physical and mental state, upto 3rd issue everything runs perfectly but in 4th issue, many of the situations felt rushed, especially how the fight with Superman began, but still i loved reading this, and I've recently gotten into comics and this is my third Batman comic

AMAZON'S TERRIBLE DELIVERY*****
The book is one of the greatest comics of all time. I've read it more times than I can count. So I am not gonna review the book here, but the adjacent factors which may be a deciding factor for you. Starting off with the good things because there aren't many in my experience, the book's paper is great. It does justice to miller's and Janson's art and the colors pop but not in a terrible way. The paper has a matte finish so there's no cheap luster. The book is heavier than I expected, and the quality of publishing really shows. That's where it ends, now REVIEWING THE TERRIBLE DELIVERY OF AMAZON. Amazon is well known for their customer service, I have loved shopping from here for a decade now and rarely my experience is as bad as it is right now. The book was wrapped in a wrapping paper, yes that's it. Amazon, which would send you a rock in a bubble wrap and hard box, chose to package a sensitive comic book in a wrapping paper that sits tightly around the comic. Because of the terrible packaging, the Invoice of the bill has faded, somewhere the book got bent and got a massive ugly crease on the cover. Some of the interior pages are stained and the edges of the pages are bent so much out of shape that they might as well tear apart. This is the first comic that I've bought with my own money, and I plan to collect more as time goes by, Amazon gives you the best service and quality delivery but if the delivery standards for book deliveries don't increase then it'll be a damn shame. Thankfully they do give an option to replace the book which I've taken. I hope the delivery is much better now. If you're buying this book for the story and as a collector goes for it, maybe my experience is a rare unlucky moment, but make sure that you get an option to replace or return the book or look for alternatives. When I'm paying 1k for a 4-decade old book I'm honestly expecting a crisp and clean experience. Thanks for reading this review hope it helped. UPDATE: the refund and return process was absolutely simple and smooth and very happy with the product that came. The handling was much better.

I totally get now why it's called one of greatest Batman comics... I never thought I'd love something by Miller more than Year One... what a story... so many things went on in only four issues... it's not only one of the best Batman comics but also one of the best Superman and one of the best Joker comics... I would've loved to read it in my teens... but very satisfying to read it at last... Hats off to Frank Miller Story: 11/10 Art: 7.5/10

An amazing read.
Batman: The Dark Knight Returns is a seminal work that completely changed how Batman comics were being written. Frank Miller reintroduced a darker, grittier and more grounded Bruce Wayne, that was perhaps lost in the era of somewhat funny and whimsical Batman movies of the 80's. It delves into the psychology of Batman, what makes him tick. It also shows a more calculative and experienced Batman, who while is not as agile as his younger self but makes up for his lost youth through calculated and precise strikes. I was recommended this book, and now I am a believer.

Masterpiece.
Every single panel oozes power and meaning. Hard to put down, evocative, and gripping till the very end. This is quintessential reading if you're into comic books, even if you're not a fan of Batman. This is the foundational pillar of the more serious and darker DC media, not like the stupid DC films which come out now trying so hard that they've made "dark" into a meme. Spoiler P.S: Don't read this just for the BvS fight. It's got many more themes to it than that to appreciate.

Classic.
This is one of the classic Batman stories, and one of the books that changed superhero stories in general. A must read for any comic fan interested in the artform. Pretty sure this print has a typo in the introduction as I've never heard of a Dick Spring... Dick SPRANG on the other hand is a phenomenal artist.
