Still unsure if these things are really needed.
Since the price on these was so low, I thought I'd buy a few and try them out. Seeing as how these buffers are half an inch thick at the point of impact, you're going to surely see some "shortstroking" on your bolt and carrier. I'd say this should only be a problem if your particular AK variant isn't properly broken in or had the rails and contact points polished or "slicked up". The overall design of this buffer allows it to fit properly into different rear trunnions. I tried it for fit on a Yugo M70AB2 underfolder, a Hungarian AMD-65 side folder, a couple of Romy WASR 10s that had different trunnions, a Russian AK converted Saiga, a Romy Draco pistol, and a Bulgarian milled receiver Arsenal SLR-95. So, this WILL fit your AK. Now for the real test: Firing with and without the buffer installed, the difference is minimal to me. I noticed no familiar "clackity" noise as the bolt went rearward upon charging, (obviously), but the felt recoil was pretty much the same to me. I'm still stuck wondering if this buffer is doing any good or not on my rifles. Even though your carrier is now smacking the buffer, it is also transferring that smack via the buffer to the rear trunnion that you're trying to save from a beating in the first place. It seems that without the buffer, my carrier doesn't even come back far enough to impact the rear trunnion in the first place. I removed the dust cover and fixed a rifle in a gun vise and fired it to carefully watch how far the carrier was actually coming backwards. It sure looked and sounded to me like it wasn't touching it. I suppose I'll leave a buffer on one of my "beater" WASRs and run it for my next several range trips and see what happens. I'm really trying to be helpful here, but for now I'm still wondering if these are useless hunks of rubber designed to seperate fools from their $$ or a valuable addition to your rifle. I guess time will tell.

so far, so good.
350+ rounds later and still going strong. Not a single short stroke, FTF, FTE ect. I added this and an ak74 brake to subdue the infamous NPAP cheek slap, since I've installed both my recoil is a lot more manageable. I've since installed an optic rail and riser pad and found recoil even less noticeable. After the 350~ rounds (over 1.5 months) I disassembled my an and inspected the buffer for damage. No cracks or signs of wear yet, I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Works on my AK
Since installing this product onto my AK the bolt does not go back as far as it used to which I have noticed causes my rounds to fire in a more predictable manner, now what I mean is that my AK does not fire all bullets the same each time which is evident by the fact that the markings on each spent casing is different and they fly out in completely random directions but since installing this the markings are not as deep on each spent casing and the bullets are landing on the targets in tighter groups, to be more specific I would occasionally have rounds go off target a bit for what looked like no apparent reason but since installing this it has reduced that by a noticeable difference. Some youtube videos say that the amount of difference this product has just depends on several factors such as who made your AK and how old your AK is (so it may help your AK or it might not do anything at all) while still some others say its just a money getter (which I disagree).

Worked ok
I put this on by sliding/twisting it over the spring to lock it in place, my gun is a very new Chinese Milled AK-47/MAK-90 custom built, only about 65 or so rounds fired though it using Tapco 7.62x39 mag, and this thing worked like a charm, I felt as if it did take some of the recoil away, I couldn't really tell for sure though as my gear was pushing the gun off my shoulder on each shot. Also I did get a red one no problem with color since its under the receiver, and it can be used as an indicator- if it's turned black, your gun needs cleaning lol

Slows wear and tear, that's it.
It's been in the gun for about 500 rounds worth of range time now. I haven't noticed any felt reduction in recoil, but I have noticed the rifles action is smoother now that the bolt carrier doesn't slam the back and forth anymore, so I guess that's important to extending the life of your AK. So it's worth it in that aspect. Paid $6

Junk Junk Jnuk
Save your money. I got about 3 to 4 rounds off before this failed. I replaced it 3 times at the range and same thing. Wouldnt take another if you gave it to me.

Best buffer I've used so far
Other buffers I've purchased cracked after less than 100 rounds- especially the plastic kind. This hard rubber type stays in place at the rear of my spring. Went on my I.O. Inc. AKM247 with no modifications. Has worked better than the OEM one supplied with the rifle so far. Able to fire off as fast as I can pull the trigger. No malfunctions, no break in period. Works well right away

Cheap insurance for your rifle
I hadn't shot my AK without this and was ordering pistol grip conversion parts and this was one of those things that made sense to install. It's supposed to help the bolt from slamming into metal and make it last longer and quieter. It is definitely quiet, I didn't even need hearing protection for the AK 74. If it extends the life of the rifle for ten bucks why wouldn't you install it?
