inadvertent anti-romance
First thing: as another reviewer pointed out, the Prime video version of this movie has terrible audio quality. If that sort of thing bothers you a lot, you will be very bothered. While I think the intention of the story was to follow the path through the ups and downs of a woman's romantic life and personal growth to arrive at the happy ending -- and in a sense it does -- but the way the story plays out none of the characters who have romantic involvements with someone else seem to have any empathy for their partners. The main character Jamie is unhappy, and she tries to find love (with a guy), but it's mostly through using sex, and it's hard to believe that she actually feels anything for them. No one really seems to feel anything for anyone. They're just a bunch of people who don't really have it in themselves to connect on more than a selfish, superficial level. Maybe that's just a lack of chemistry or the script, but it's hard to believe that anyone has genuine feelings of love for anyone else. The movie throws two choices at Jamie, one an attractive and sensitive poet and the other a regular sort of guy (with his own late night tv show) who's supposed to be appealing because of heartfelt constancy and his sense of humor. Except the "sensitive" guy oozes self-involved insincerity and the regular-but-loyal guy is a judgmental hypocrite. Neither seem like a particularly good choice. This isn't the only love triangle that exists. There's other coupling and uncoupling that seems soulless and like it leaves little impression on those involved. An incident of infidelity occurs just to punch an emotional button in the viewer (and perhaps pave the way for a later button punch), as the cheating partner and relationship they were in just disappear without a ripple. That's not to say this is an awful movie, though it's not really good either. Aside from dragging along at times, this is pure "chick flick" in the sense that it's about nothing except the relationships. Jamie is pretty and has an appealing charm that makes it hard to not have sympathy for her. The way movies depict romantic love always requires a certain suspension of disbelief and acceptance of tropes because there simply isn't enough time to really demonstrate that a new "love" is anything but infatuation. But in Easy, it just seems so much harder to believe. Most romantic comedies, the happy ending usually evokes an "aww, isn't that nice, I hope their future works out". The rather rushed happy ending that occurs in this one, my thought was "there's no way this is going to last."

Love is never Easy... Just some info on the DVD
This is a delightful romantic comedy with a very engaging main actress (Marguerite Moreau). After spending years as a "jerk magnet", she is about to quit the dating scene when lo and behold, two decent guys with real potential come along. Like they say, "it never rains but it pours". She is then faced with the opposite problem of deciding which guy would be the better choice. While watching it, I didn't really know how things would turn out because both guys she was into were actually quite likeable. Fortunately everything ends happily. Well it is a romantic comedy. :)I thought customers might want to know the specs for this DVD seeing as Amazon has continued its bad habit of omitting tech specs from newer releases. The DVD is by Screen Media Films. It is in it's original aspect ratio of 1.85.1 (enhanced for widescreen TV). Colors are accurate. There is quite a bit of film grain but not too distracting. My only quibble with the presentation is that black levels are closer to a dull grey so that the transfer lacks a sense of depth and richness. Soundwise it's in 2.0 and 5.1 surround with pretty decent sound reproduction. There are no close captions or subtitles contrary to what it says on the backcover and on Amazon. All in all a very enjoyable movie. Definitely worth a viewing.

Surprisingly entertaining movie with a great plot
When I bought this movie, I was under the assumption that it would be a decent movie that would at the least be interesting enough to hold my attention for around 90 minutes, but I was pleasantly surprised at the substance within the movie and how real the acting felt. This was positively one of the most well-acted films I have ever seen. All of the supporting cast were great, especially John and Mick. However, the main character absolutely stole the show and really draws the audience in to feel her happiness and pain.I am sure that everyone has seen plenty of movies, in their time, that attempt to depict relationships in today's world, and they all fall woefully short of the truth. Most movies attempt to show as much nudity as possible and hold back the emotion; while this movie has some nudity, it is effectively done with Moreau being in the moment, either showing her affection or love for the character she is with. Easy was able to pull off "classy" nudity on camera, however "classy" nudity may be able to be. I did not feel at any point that it was overdone, nor was the acting overdone.Moreau feels like a friend that everybody has and everybody knows that just wants to be happy, but is confused as to how to arrive at that happiness. Easy depicts her journey to happiness and does a phenomenal job of doing so. I whole-heartedly recommend this film to anybody that wants to see an entertaining, true-to-life film that actually "keeps it real."

The plots (there are several) sre tangled because the lives of the characters are tangled threads of love, jealousy
This is a puzzling film; that's why I don't give it a five. The plots (there are several) sre tangled because the lives of the characters are tangled threads of love, jealousy, longing, searching and sex, sex, sex. Marguerite Moreau is a young adult, daughter of a youngish mother Emily Deschanel. An example of these adult tangles is when mother and daughter are both sexually involved (almost daily at times) with a "foreign looking" charmer. Later mother is involved with other men when her husband is off with other women in this odd community.I'm a "Bones" fan of Emily Deschanel—she can "do no wrong" in my eyes—so there's a secret delight in watching her go very wrong in "Easy"! And, in an odd ending, there is a christening party everyone goes to with love and forgiveness all round! Would that I had been there! ALAN N. HALL

“Jamie, do not sleep with him tonight!” [Laura]
This 2003 light-hearted RomCom drama follows the fortunes of Jamie [Marguerite Moreau] who has had lots of casual flings but never manages to find a real relationship. When events suddenly land her with two seeming ideal men she finds fate once again seems to be messing it all up, but will she manage to hold onto one or will others snatch true love away once more? The writing is quite clever leading us to believe that Jamie is a sex addict but it soon becomes apparent she resorts to sex as a last resort to hold onto the guy. There are multiple love triangles and plenty of misunderstandings to maintain the tension and interest thereby maintaining a decent pace, making this an entertaining view as Jamie battles with her ‘self destructive’ tendencies. The script doesn’t follow the standard movie path, but looks at the various issues that can often make or break a relationship, whether founded or not and also brings into play the relationships of others around her which helps make this seem ‘real’.The single disc has play, scene selection, web link and extras [deleted scenes, film background, biographies and credit list]. Featuring strong language and mild nudity from the start it’s a definite 18 rating, but could quite easily have been a wider appeal 15 with minor tweaking as it is full of humour and moral dilemmas. Deserving more than a 4 star It just manages a ***** rating.

a fascinating and revealing look at love, sex and relationships
This film is about a promiscuous young woman who stays celibate for three months to see if she can find herself a better class of man.Marguerite Moreau who plays Jamie - the young woman in question - puts in a fine performance with a very able supporting cast and an interesting and unpredictable script.Certainly worth watching at least a couple of times - never a dull moment and I should think that most people will be able to relate their own real-life experiences of relationships to those portrayed in Easy.
