It's hard for me to review this item because I think it's a fine repair kit but didn't turn out to fit my meter cupboard. The brass pin is nicely spring-loaded and a considerable improvement on the pin already in my cupboard door: but sadly the broken hinge I have wasn't addressed by this kit. That's on me, not on the manufacturer.

Simple to insert into existing door if you can remove the remains of the old broken ones from the door first with pliers.Much cheaper than replacing the door!

I am a little baffled as they do not send any instructions of use which would make the object more desirable. I feel its robust but am fathoming how to use it.

Please don’t immediately go looking for a replacement consumer cover, spending anywhere between £40 and £80+ before assessing if yours is fixable. For just a few pounds, ours is now 100% serviceable with no more gaffer tape necessary 🤷‍♂️

The bottom hinge pin on our 25+ year old gas meter box disintegrated a while ago. I wondered how to repair it until I saw this kit. Simple! I poked the old one out with a small screwdriver, inserted the brass expanding one, compressed it, popped it in the bottom mount and then moved it down. Its taken longer to write the review than do the fix! Perfect!
