This awning is very well built .The shade fabric itself, is thick and does a great job of providing shade and protection from the rain and snow, the poles strong and withstood 20 miles hour winds out in the desert.Both of the folding brackets that hold the side poles are made of metal,unlike other rooftop awnings that make this from plastic and end up breaking with heavy winds.This thing is solid affordable and not heavy at all.I would definitely recommend it.

Currently travelling across country and camping along the way. We love this awning for our campsites, however, I’m rating it a 4 star because the twist locks do not lock. Two of them were seized up and the other two won’t lock. We have to use four hose clamps for each of the poles. Not sure if we just got a faulty item, but it was too late to return before we left on our trip.

The description wasn't clear on the mounting options that came with the canopy, so I thought I'd show what's included and share my solution to others considering this awning. First off, as others have stated the canopy appears to be well engineered and sturdy. I purchased some sand bags to hold it town on the beach, I think it should work great for that purpose.As far as mounting goes, it comes with two short flat brackets and two longer L-shaped brackets. It's designed to bolt onto a rack or roof basket in a semi-permanent way, but I wanted to come up with some sort of quick-release solution. I used some track nuts I had on hand to secure the L brackets to the bottom of my roof rack bars. Then I attached the shorter brackets to the canopy's track with a few washers to space them away just enough to allow the vertical leg of the L bracket to slip in. This makes a snug fit, but the canopy can still be easily lifted on and off of the L brackets. I then drilled and tapped a hole in the short brackets for a grub screw to lock it into place. This way I can loosen two grub screws with a hex wrench and remove the canopy and roof racks in just a couple minutes.

I purchased this for a trip into the northern Chihuahuan desert. Through high winds and tough desert conditions, it worked perfectly. I had no issues setting it up alone simply by setting my stakes and tie downs first and then elevating the vertical poles. The horizontal poles did an excellent job of providing support particularly when windy. I did bring a variety of stakes with me as the provided ones are marginal at best. Ended up using an augering stake that worked well.Installation required me to replace all the bolts with true T bolts as the supplied bolts spun inside of the T channel. Otherwise, it was straightforward.Overall for the price, I was very happy with it and would recommend it for purchase.

Seems pretty sturdy and the canopy material is thicker than I expected.The awning gives off plenty of shade and is tall enough for me to stand underneath.It was a bit of a pain to get it mounted to the roof rack.Set up and tear down are definitely easier with 2 people, it’s pretty awkward trying to set it up by yourself.I think it’s a good buy for the price!

It is good for the price, wish they had them in several color choices.The bad: the telescopic pipe arms on the upper part will not hold much weight,they are too thin. . At the very first rain it accumulated water on the center causing one of the arms to bend and brake. This awning should include a center rod which keeps the center higher than the sides so the water drains to the sides avoiding accumulation on the center. That is something I can do by myself and I strongly recommend it however that should be included from the manufacturer. . The set up instructions doe not include a diagram with part numbers to order.

Simple to install, easy to use. We will enjoy it for many years.
