A great starter kit
I first heard Patricia's version of "Blackbird" as a demo while auditioning speakers. The sound was incredible! I bought even better speakers than the one's I was auditioning there. I had to go internet shopping to find her, I took a chance on this three CD set, not knowing anything more than the "Blackbird" track. Ding, ding, ding---JACKPOT!If you like smooth sultry female Jazz vocals with EXCELLENT backing musicians. This is awesome. If you have a high end stereo and want to hear it shine, this is REALLY SWEET!

Premier Female Jazz Singer, pianist and song writer around
This is the artist that brought me back to jazz. Great singer and songwriter. Also, great interpreter of other people's music. Makes it her own and you look forward to hearing what she does next. Additionally, the recording quality is outstanding. Play them on a high quality system and you think you are there. This is an artist that you will listen to again and again and again. The band that backs her is superb. Michael Arnapol's stand up double bass is inspiring. You will need to have a system with a great bottom to fully appreciate his work.

A Collection Galore
Having known Patricia Barber as an exceptional musician, poet, singer & songwriter; I needed a collection. That this is the only one was no reason to get it. That it's the price of 3 CDs was no distraction. One can't know her music 'If This Isn't Jazz' and superb throughout. Matt Collar wrote that "it's a perfect introduction to Barber's singular approach to jazz," but it's much more than that unless, of course you want to buy the 6 CDs it's compiled from.

Tous les amateurs de Jazz vocal connaissent et aiment Diana Krall et Melody Gardot , seule Patricia Barber n arrive pas à se faire une place dans le monde grand public du Jazz vocal.Quel dommage ! C est un peu plus difficile d acces , moins évident, mais quelle chanteuse et pianiste !Ce triple CD , classé par themes , recele de chef d oeuvres , que ce soit des chansons pop classiques transformées par la dame (black magic woman ou Light my fire) , des standards de Jazz (My funny valentine, i fall in love too easily , the thrill is gone - 3 standard repris et magnifiés en son temps par Chet Baker) ou ses propres compositions (You gotta go home , chef d oeuvre voacal et pianistique) .Une excellente occasion pour penetrer les multiples facettes de cette immense chanteuse .Depuis Patricia Barber a sorti un nouvel opus , Smash, magnifique mais dont on n a pas beaucoup entendu parler (sauf sur France Musique) , alors qu il est superbe et de surcroit magnifiquement enregistré !
