Great for a Cub Scout
A little cheap but perfect for my 7 year old Cub Scout. After a meeting about hiking he wanted a compass and whistle. It was the perfect stocking stuffer.

Garbage
Save your money this thing is crap. you can hardly put it back together once you take it apart. The compass doesn't work at all. I was going to return it but it was more of a hassle than it was worth to go to a UPS Store. Instead I threw it away.

Lousey whistle
It seemed to have met my criteria for a compass and a whistle together. But the whistle was really lame--I was going into bear country--and the price of 7.99 was outrageous for what it is. Let's just say the picture is better than the reality of this useless object.

Dials are hard to read in low light.
Dials(Temp Compase) too small to read in the dark. Dials attached to small flashlight so its not useful.Whistle works though.

Great for Auto Survival Kit or for Remote Hiking
I don't know why this has so many negative reviews. It's not a toy.The whistle is so loud, it will hurt your ears - try blowing harder. The LED light is very bright and runs on 2 x 2016 batteries (might suggest changing them to brand name batteries). The compass and thermometer both work fine.Putting this in an automotive survival kit, but also great for remote hiking. Any suggestions besides putting matches in the compartment? I was thinking of maybe a couple of pain pills wrapped in foil.If I can get the LED out, was going to switch it to a RED LED.~PhotoByMeta
