I've always wanted to be a prehistoric caveperson. And now, thanks to these clay chunks, I'm one step closer. It tastes like dirt (because it is), but it makes me feel like I'm a part of something ancient and primal. Note: I'm not a doctor, so please don't take my word for it. But I feel like a healthier, more grounded individual after eating some dirt. (And putting some on my face). Five stars for allowing me to embrace my inner Neanderthal.

Homemedde91 Organic Red Clay Chunks has a beautiful and rich color. This natural clay is very hard and dense. It comes in huge rock-like chunks in a non-resealable foil pouch. This clay dissolves quickly with water but its also very messy.In an attempt to create a mask, I smashed a chunk of this clay in a container with water and it was difficult to get the clay to breakdown into the consistency of a paste. I had red clay everywhere. I was relieved that it did not permanently stain my counter top surfaces but it does require a little effort to clean it off. I applied the clay to my face and washed it off. My face felt clean and I noticed a reduction in oil around my nose and forehead areas.I also like that is a natural and unscented. Even though this organic clay effectively reduced the natural oils in and around my T-Zone, I did not like that my face looked ashy and felt overly dry and tight. My hands also felt dry and rough from just applying this product. Overall, it satisfactorily cleanses and reduces oils but its too hard, messy, and I don’t like the way it makes my skin look and feel.

I got a little cute mortar and pestle to grind the clay and I’ve been making my own homemade masks from this being the base and I add bentonite clay and castor oil, I usually mix to what my face needs at the time. But this red clay has been great. Whenever having bad breakout I make myself a nice natural mix with the red clay and it is always effective!
